60$ lighter in pocket ,,,now the wait.

Well it has arrived safely. Playtime will commense later. I will have to find something the blank off the radio port, as I don't have a spare LNB to fit in the other port of the OMT which would free up the one already attached.

OK on the dish, it works just fine, nearly 15dB on the ITN Newsroon feed. I need a new Ku LNB to sit on top, thought of an Invacom, but with fairly long cable run, might not be the answer. Anyone recommend a good one, that would fit nicely on to of the Hughes? Nice to have the correct frequency readout on the receiver now.

So how do you reckon it compares with a tweaked SL3 ?
Gain wise I found little difference ..but much more stable and was able to hang on to feeds as low as 7db ..
The SL3 could not do this at my QTH

About the same gain VS. I want to check it in some serious rain to check how it holds up, with low signal. I'm sure like yourself this will be more stable, being true linear. I'm on the lookout for another LNB now for Horizontal

The other lnb as you know doesn't have to be a Hughes ...
The footprint profile will fit any of the Norsat Ka Range..
You could simulate rain by draping a damp tea towel over the feed..

..I'd rather you didn't pray for rain ..

LOL, I don't any wet stuff either VS! will do more experimenting over the weekend. I'll keep any eye out on the bay for a Norsat;)

Did the new lnb and feed help with the ber?

Yes, tried it on some weaker feeds this morning and they were rock solid. They are worth keeping an eye out for, well pleased

There is a thread about them in the Ka section. They are band 'B'
VS has one

Well, piddling down here, so a quick look at Newsroom feed with the Hughes, solid lock at 10.2 db. This was well worth it. Thanks VS for finding this one!

Yippeeee managed to back another 18Ghz LNB, OMT and feed from the same guy as before, this one went to auction so had to pay more, $91 but still better than buying new. This I can put on the existing OMT for horizontal now.
Like VS a fool and his money and all that.........

Nicely done Buddy ..
:D
