Advice Needed help telneting to my dm 500s

hi guys.

could do with some help if you dont mind please.

i have just done a factory reset on my dm 500 and started the process of resetting the box up. the issue i have is when i have attempted to connect to the box via telebt on dcc it keeps failing, i never had this issue prior to the restore,

i have tried several different passwords from root, admin, dreambox, vuplus, but nothing seems to work, i am currently on windows 10 but have also attempted to connect via my lappy using windows 7 but again no luck,

i have shut down firewalls on both systems and still no connection.

is anyone able to give me some advice in relation to this please.

When I had a Dreambox it was 0000 or password.
 
Yes password is dreambox and root

do it again and try
 
i have tried both 0000 and dreambox with the same result,
 
Is it one with a dodgy card share on it? You may need to flash a new image onto it to override the vendor settings..
 
Could be that Analoguesat - I use my 500 as a server and changed password to make it safe(er)
 
Some dream boxes have the user name as root and password as dreambox, but some of the images have a blank password.

Worth a try. Are you using a backup image? As they can have different passwords set, you would have to go and read where you got the image from.
 
i attemted to leave the passwod blank but still no luck. the imahe i have on the box is the same 1 i have had on it for years and never had this issue before.
could it be a router issue as the router was reset a day or 2 prior to resetting the dreambox????
 
Did you check your receivers IP Address?
Have you tried another program, possibly a FTP program, like Filezilla, to see if that connects to your receiver?
 
i assume the ip address is ok as DDC ftp connects to the box only the telent side fails to connect, i have tried using putty and again that will not work
 
You could try the VU+ Control Centre. I find it easier than the Dreambox Control Centre.
 
Do you actually get as far as the password prompt? Is telnet definitely active? You could try SSH.
