Hi,

As I am moving (again), could someone with practical experience let me know what dish size is required for Sirius/Astra 4a Nordic beam reception around Bristol area? I used to receive it in west Wiltshire on a 1.25m Gibby dish very successfully in all weathers but now only have a Penta 85cm dish. Does the signal strength change throughout the day as it did for Sirius 2/3?

The Penta 85 is enough for Sirius Nordic beam in NE London and Tunbridge Wells in most weathers, so wondered whether it will be enough to receive in Bristol?

Thanks
Alex

I used to have a triax 1.1 i was able to receive 90% of the channels on 4.8 ive now got a Gibby 1.25 and i can pick up all of the channels i receive the nordic hd channels @ 60% and the sd channels @80% i live in South Devon, ive also got an inverto black ultra lnb and a very good tuner in my Vu+duo

Hi Jack

There is hope yet mate i have successfully got viasat on a 1,25m gibi in Belfast which is much harder to get being further away.

Seems to work OK here. Getting around 8dB on most channels but tends to drop down a bit in the early evening. I don't get any breakups, unless it's raining in the evening. Black Ultra LNB certainly helped lots!

I know, this thread is pretty old, but did not find newest one in fringe reception. However, this might not be issue of fringe but issue of low s/r. Anyway, could somebody check reception on 12702 H 3/4 2100. Please also let know if this TP is not receivable, and your soughs why is that.

Are you talking about the bit of glitching Rimants i have no idea i get it on a few TP, signal strength is to large for a weak signal 99% on the sky dish :p:D:), i wouldn't put it down to low SR this box has locked a 900 SR in the past, over to someone else.

Martin, can you also lock Est_TV 12725 V 1480 8/9? My DM8k can not do that.

Yes Rima with my DM8K but you must have patience...At first it wouldn't lock..so I left it for some time on service scan...then after a couple of times it came in
as EST TV - BUT no picture only sound.

No problem locking any of the above frequencies on the 1.5m dish here on the Vu+. No picture on EST TV and no signal showing at all on 12725V on the F15 (14dB on Vu+). F15 really doesn't like low SRs.

It is an Enigma2 problem. I get picture with my GB Quad maybe once in 25 tries, sound every time in Helsinki. My other non enigma2 boxes give picture every time (OB SX4 and Faval mercury HS 100). I think I posted it on world-of-satellite.com couple of years ago, but they are not interested fixing it. Maybe some openPLi user could post it on openPli forum and it might get fixed.

I was also getting picture on my GB Quad Plus some time ago. Do not have GB on hands ATM.

I tried it with GB Quad (VIX Hades 016) with IBU single on 110 cm dish. What image are you using? On the first try i got picture, but when switching to an other channel and back again no picture but good sound. Playing with it and it looks like that I have a better change for a picture if I switch from the cabel tuner to EST TV than switching from sat-tuner. I have had picture twice from about ten tries, you have to wait for while to get picture. 8PSK 8/9 needs about 11 dB for error free picture. I have 82% signal quality which I think is over 11 dB, because sound is not breaking. I think I have same kind of problem with african channels on 5W. There was two channels from same company but did not get picture from other one and the other one work. These channels are no longer at 5W.

I also have VIX installed ATM. Just leave channel on and picture may appear after some 10 seconds or so.
