I´m trying to resolve a problem with a Humax box, done some research and have been advised via the www that a 1GB stick is required to upload the new firmware, box cannot handle anything bigger.
My smallest is 8GB, which according to the information I have will confuse the box.
Anybody out there got a very old 1GB USB stick?

Don't want to rain on your parade but I had a singular lack of success trying to update the firmware in my HDR. I tried both 1GB and 256MB sticks.

Merry Christmas to you too! But I hate lose, so if I can source the stick I´ll give it a go!

What have you done with your 1GB stick:-bighappy

Thinking ( for once ) outside the box, if I explain the problem, maybe there is an easier cure.

Box lost some channels during recent txp changes, most notable ITV 1. Any attempt to re-scan, box would re-boot without doing re-scan. Tried factory reset, box would not boot correctly at all. Changed postcode and got box to reboot partially and allow scan of non-freesat services, which it did ok, but missed all HD channels.
Must be software / firmware related ?
If only the great god Tivu was still posting, I´m sure he would know:(

What have you done with your 1GB stick
I returned it to its owner!

I haven't looked on the Bay of E's but surely they have 1GB pen drives there.

Looking at you outside the box as well, is the HDR being fed from a large enough dish? It seems to me that such corruption could come from a poor signal.

You could also try the custom firmware for the HDR which I believe also loads a new copy of the firmware and solves problems such as this as well as adding additional functions to the HDR - FOXSAT-HDR Customised Firmware | hummy.tv | a discussion forum and help reference for owners of Humax AV equipment
Are you sure that the standard firmware, i.e. the bootloader, is included? When I looked at the Raydon upgrade one of its requirements was that the bootloader has to be U7.53 or later first. And therein lay my problem. I was stuck on U7.52 and couldn't get my HDR to recognise any USB stick I tried.

There are several threads here about the upgrade but I think this is the most comprehensive.

Humax Foxsat HDR Custom Firmware

Will have a look at this as well, but assume I need to use the usb interface that only like 1gb or lower?
Yes, it has to be a "small" capacity USB drive - providing you can get it to work that is! See my problem here.
