Against my better judgement, but entirely in keeping with SWMBO's, I've just watched the much hyped Chris Evans led TG.

And, despite the fact that the little chipmunk voice remains intensely irritating, I have to say the show wasn't half as bad as I expected.

With the winning format being largely retained, it was like wearing a pair of old slippers, albeit high-octane slippers.

We enjoyed it.

What did you think?

Sorry twas Evans & Co.

Beeb never learns, should have renamed the prog. and found a new format:-doh

Just my opinion as a non UK resident and streaming for free the UK freesat channels:-ohcrap

Regards

Ps. Screened on UK May bank holiday weekend so probably not many UK viewers!

Positive, better than expected. But agree with "chipmunk voice remains intensely irritating"...

Watched it, and not very impressed - pale shadow so far

PS. I've turned the Thread into a Poll. Please cast your Vote!

Entertaining it started off a bit like TFI but gradually got into what Top Gear is all about not bad I will watch the next episode Matt LeBlanc may end up spanking Chris Evans
.

Just so long as the spanking doesn't turn into shafting.

PS pse vote ..... we're losing!

Evans was a pain - too much like TFI
Leblanc was surprisingly good. Or better than I thought he would be.
At least they kept most of the same format - a few new ideas (new star in car track)

Matt LeBlanc stood out as the best on the night the other 5 of the 7 presenters hardly made a show who are they !!!

Eddie Jordan presumably hasn't yet got sweaty enough armpits.

Yuk.

Poll, voted yes, had low expectations so no problem exceeding :O)
Will watch the shows, and give the new guys a good chance.

Have not watched it yet, so have not voted

Prefer the earlier version.

Not a massive Top Gear fan anyway and have seldom watched the shows on first airing, I do enjoy it, but for me it's a show to watch when I have some time to kill and there's nothing else on. So haven't voted. :)

Sort of forgot about it (watched an Alan Bennett 'Talking Heads' dvd instead LOL) but may try and catch the next one. Really not sure whether I can stand much more than five minutes of Chris Evans...

Having a mooch about t'internet, the reception of it has been pretty poor (which I expected it to do so), haven't watched it myself though, and to be honest, I really can't be bothered to... :-sleep

Roll on The Grand Tour I say... :D

Never watch it - won`t be watching it with CE in charge as I cant stand the ginger tw&t
