Bargain Second-Hand Big Dishes For Sale

In reality, I have let go already 7 dishes. Today 2 men came and picked up 2 x 1,5m PFAs and also 1,8m Prodelin on ground stand. My toroidal dish is also installed by another user. Swedish 1,4m Jumbo also gone. You can not imagine how happy is wife!

The danish dish was marked "Skymaster" or something like that, I couldn't quite make out the word after "Sky".
The LNB bracket was clearly for C-band, so it's that old.
AH!
Thanks to @remlap, the mystery is solved!
It's a Skyscan dish from 1985 or so.

Skyscan Satellite TV commercial from 1985

Check out from 3:44 onwards.
Skyscan fits perfectly with the eroded name I couldn't quite make out on the danish dish.
However, the dish in the film looks like a 130 or so, not a 180 as posted on ebay.
Could be that it came in several sizes. The mount seems to be the same though.

And perhaps some of our, erh, experienced members can enlighten us on if those services were Ku or C-band (I suspect Ku)?

They were KU for 27.5w and 13E

I had a friend, who passed away 1/2 a year ago :(. He left his company and also this dish to his wife. I was on that roof today. Basically, this antenna is going on sale, but owner does not know it's price. They still remember how much they payed for it to buy from USA (that was couple of decades back in time and costed many thousands). I have said that they probably can find somebody to take it away for ~ 1 grand, but maybe even less. They were very disappointed to hear that.

Big Dishes are like Cars ..... once taken home, the value plummets immediately.

Came across a dish today that could be up for sale soon, dish is an IRTE 1.4 ish ( didn´t have a tape in my pocket after running across 3 roofs )
Polar mount got my attention, any thoughts about it´s worth? Client wants 1.3 Famaval as back-up to IPTV system. Actuator is a very old, propably non functional Echostar.
Dish is well bent round the edges, but seems sound doing quick check with S1 meter.

Anyone got a use for this?

Damn, you spotted that! :D I've reserved that dish for myself (but that can take time till lady agree to let it go for 50-70 EUR (maybe I will go for 100 EUR, but she still thinks that dishes are sooo expensive like 20 years ago ). When I said to her that brand new 90sm dish can cost ~10EUR and LNBs are cheap as less than 5 EUR, she simply did not believe o_O. So, that dish is really nice one.... I do not know it at all. It is written on it Equatorial (and also on the mount). There is another dish (perhaps 1,5m PFA) available IMG_20160915_182055 (Custom).webp IMG_20160915_182109 (Custom).webp , in which I am not interested at all. Of course, when I said that this can also be sold at ~ 25-50 EUR, she did not believe again.

Sorry to hear about your friend.
But you have to say that he leaves a legacy...

Value? Well, as CJ says, it's worth only what someone is willing to pay for it...

As an aside, that looks uncannily like one I have seen on pictures from a private garden i Latvia recently...
So there are more than one of those beasts near Riga??
At least I know that @RimaNTSS won't be taking this one... at least, I don't think he will... nah... one should be enough...
Hmm.

You are right @st1 , it is also 4,6m Andrew dish, it is only lacking actuators and the heating elements. And, man.... it is dirty! And you are right, I am not looking for another dish like that.... tooo much pain. I just said to the lady what she can expect, something to start bargaining. She also mentioned that scrap it to metal would cost a lot. I would not like if such a great dish goes to the scrap yard. Will try to advertise it on local SAT-community and also in Scandinavian forum. 3 years ago, when I was looking for a big dish I was ready to spend couple of grands.

It's a beautiful dish. I have nowhere to mount it but I wouldn't mind storing it away and gloating.

I would sooner have working sky dish than stored none working big dish, working sky dish will receive more
You are right, but depending on your location. As well, with the big dish you will usually have better rain-margin :-lol
