It's a PITA scanning Paksat since 40E is so strong, it bleeds through. All <3600 above are from 40E.

I haven't tried adjusting the Zin for Linear yet - probably a job for the afternoon. Will let you know.

Hi John, just rotated the Zin 45 degrees with F connector at around 4:30 o'clock with AV-Comm writing on the barrel at the tom.

4162V is now coming in at 8.4dB - strongest I've ever seen it. AJK TV (3984V) is coming in at 5.8dB - never seen this one before.

Again, no real fine tuning - just rotate the LNB "by eye" and hope for the best.

Off to 55/58W and see what I can find.

Blind scanned 58W - 148 TV channels scanned in across 15 transponders. Most TPs up in strength, though some are down. But most importantly, North Korean KCTV is coming in at 8dB! This was not possible with the Tit.. in fact, I had to rotate it for the other probe and swap polarities in the receiver to get it at all...

Got my servo motor, now need to come with a mechanism to rotate it remotely. Don't really want to drill holes and tap in threads in the barrel (not for what it cost!) so going to use a spare C band LNB clamp to attach the 'holder' for the servo.

Good stuff CJ, We are a bit late to the party in this country for using this particular Zinwell lnbf mainly down to availability and we are now playing catch-up but worth the wait.

Good idea, just shows that sometimes you have to think outside the box for ways of doing. Pictures mandatory :)

Years ago I already was thinking about trying to make such AV-COM barrel by myself .
Beginning this year a friend ordered one from AV-COM , from that one I took the dimentions .
A few days ago I ordered the nessasary parts for 2 polarisers , yesterday the package arrived .
The alu tube is 70/60 , thursday I will start with this project .

Could not wait till thursday , so at lunchtime I used my employers lathe to machine the in- and outside of the barrel .
To get the idea how it will look like , attached a (to) small servo motor and a conicle feedhorn and a dead Zinwell .
Ordered a new Zinwell and a servo as mentioned here befor . have to wait till the end of the month .
Tomorrow I will start with the flat inside parts .

Interesting to see youv'e got the cone scalar on Wim, i did a bit of swapping about earlier on tonight between the Titanium stepped scalar and the cone again just to re-assure me of my evaluation tests from a few days or so and yep, there is definitely a bit more of illumination performance when using the cone.
I'm interested to see how you are going to fabricate and fix the inner steps .... will you be chamfering the sides of the flat bar etc ... looking forward to your next moves.

I've found a 32 mm hexagon bar , gonna attach 2 steel flat bars to the opposit sides .
Above that , the 2 flat alu bars at each side .
The hexagon bar at one end in the lathe chuck and in the other end the live center .
Thats the way I intend to give the alu bars the correct radius to fit inside the barrel .
