Urd is coming...

Barbara's gone (I think Barbara has just arrived here..), but Urd is coming thru here in the next hours.

Forecast of storm force winds and much increased water levels in some places (+1.5 - 2 meters).
Hoping my dishes will survive mostly untouched. Blue ring indicates their location.




A quick look around outside before anything serious has arrived:

CM180 looking happy as ever (but seems to have grown hair this Christmas!).
It's not going anywhere - has withstood worse.



Temporary Gib 125 has a couple of extra slabs on the ground mount.
Hope it will stay in place now.




Laminas 1200 and Luxor 120cm dish doing a lie-flat exercise (next to the CM100).
This should be enough to keep them from flying - it's like pulling a suction-cup off the ground.




SMWs and the Prodelin should be ok; they're sheltered on the back of the outhouse, and movement is limited by vegetation anyway.




Triax deemed too fragile and one-of-a-kind size in my armoury (I'll be very careful with the use of the word "arsenal" again!), so it's been allowed indoors in the outhouse...




And of course, I had to tie that "third dish" down - the trampoline has been anchored just in case.



Now we wait for the storm to pass...

They ( met office ) predicted full storm here in inland norway, but only the costal areas were affected, ( 30000 without power ) just a fresh breeze here so far. but genny rigged and ready just incase

I will try, by Denmark is merely a bump in the surface, and not really a good thermodynamic absorber, so I fear that much of the energy will pass over southern Sweden and gather more momentum over the Eastern see on it's journey eastwards...

Urd has passed, leaving many coastal regions flooded, traffic interrupted due to closed bridges and fallen trees on train tracks.
...but without any visible physical impact on my installation! Hooray!

It's now moved towards Estonia and Lithuania, but I believe it's been weakening as it passed the Baltic Sea.
Safe for now - gotta do something about all those loose dishes in the near future ;)

Was at my cottage on an island by the sea, some scary moments during night, felt like the north wall + roof was about to give up at any next wind gush. But went well. No dishes out there (ftm), dishes in town survived well, the cm180 out of alignment but no damage, was secured with extra ropes.

Yes. It's a 1241 that I lucked upon on the local version of loot.

Got a very good price on it. Including a Baird NPRM. Top deal!

Yes, I can get them from Vertex in Germany (Prodelin subsidiary and importer for EU).
(Channel Master feed-arms won't work, the CM240 is 0.6 f/D.)
But, as @RimaNTSS always points out you can always make your own - don't even have to go to the Russian focal-point calculator, as Prodelin provides specific measurements of distance from top and bottom of dish to top and bottom of the Ku feed-horn (which I have a few of). So something home made from INOX tubing (round and square) would probably do the job. Just need to find a metal source, get the hack-saw out, buy a TIG welder, get a workshop to work on this in, little things like that...

I am gratified by your proposal - it would be a great way forward.
But apart from not wanting to encumber you, there's the small thing about shipping a pack that is at least 2 meters long and weighs couple of kgs...

Wish I could pop by your garage some Saturday afternoon, and work out what is needed.
Unfortunately there's the Baltic sea in the way...

And even if I pass through Riga again in the near future, the pack might not qualify as hand-luggage... (although the CM polar mount did actually fly as checked luggage without problems through Kiev and Warzawa on the way to Copenhagen!)

With your foundations, I am sure the 4.7 will stay in place much longer than most things around it.
That goes for the cm180 as well.
The playground will have survived worse in the past, so I think you will probably be alright, as I am
