I presume you are using an av amp, have you tried the amp using a different source to make sure its not that, i would also go into the av settings on the dreambox and select ac3 default as yes.

Did you ever get this working, there is no need to select s-video in the menu ,it outputs s-video all the time irrelevant of setting.

I would reflash with another image ,i had a similar thing when i loaded a skin on the image didn't like ,the box just kept going round and round starting up and shutting down.

Do you have a hard drive fitted? Mine got quite hot with a 3.5" drive fitted so i fitted a 2.5" drive and a fan near to the front of the psu which seemed to get the hottest ,it is now quite cool and luke warm when pushed.

I agree, why would you spend days waiting for the sun to come out ,i set mine up in the rain with a £5 sat meter ,took no more than a couple of minutes.
