    Calculating Focal Point ?

Hi, I'm back in the game again with a shiny new Channel Master 90cm dish, which will hopefully go up by the weekend if the wind will drop off a little! I'm combining the dish with an Invacom c120 / CM feedhorn and I'm not sure how to find the exact focal point so I know how far from the face...

New System - Buying advice please : )

Cheers Llew.... I've been pricing up various options this afternoon and I'm edging towards getting a Supermount1224/Channel Master 90cm combination. That looks to be the ideal receiver to bring to the party : ) Expensive solution but it will do everything I need and more, plus keeps options...

    Broken Actuator Help....

Just a newbie myself but I'd probably replace rather than repair, keeping other parts (motor etc) for spares. Out of interest how did that happen ?? If it was wind damage I'd agree with Lancelot and get something beefier : ) Breadfan

New System - Buying advice please : )

Ok I'm all set to take my 2nd plunge into a motorised setup and would appreciate any thoughts/advice etc anybody had about which way to go. See the 'Bl**dy Neighbours" thread to find out what happened to the 1st go !! 1) My 1st dish was a prime focus and I bought an Invacom 0.3 C120 lnb for...

    Bl**dy neighbours

Thanks for the support everybody, some excellent ideas in there as well, particularly like the one about abandoning a wrecked car outside. I've been away for the weekend and have just taken the dish down. I can't be bothered with fighting this battle, I would have to pay £110 to apply for...

    Bl**dy neighbours

Just got the dish up, and after spending a week sorting it and getting it perfectly on the arc, a geezer from the council's just knocked on my door and told me 3 neighbours have complained about it. It's a 100cm dish and I purposely put it round the back of the house so it's less obtrusive even...

    Actuator Fitting

Cheers CH that makes sense but thanks for confirming:) The "floppy action" is only occuring at each extreme of movement so setting limits slightly before that should cure it. My entire set up is based on cheap bits snaffled mainly from Ebay so it's a case of "It will have to do" at the moment...

    Actuator Fitting

This is going to sound like a stupid newbie question i know, but I've looked round for the answer both here and elsewhere on the net with no luck. This is hard to explain and it's too dark to take a picture... but how does the actuator fit to the polar mount ? I mean I know it bolts to the...

    Twin LNB or splitter ?

Thanks for the reply Apogee, I will only ever need to use 1 receiver at a time so the splitter option looks favourite at the moment, cheers : ) Breadfan

    Twin LNB or splitter ?

Hi, Having got some kit from ebay I'm planning my 1st motorised satellite installation, and could use a little advice please. I have a 1m dish with 8" actuator. I also got a very cheap Manhattan 9000 analogue receiver. I realise there's little/nothing left to watch on analogue now, but this...

    20W - new feeds hotspot?

Can somebody please explain what 'inclined orbit' means. Is it something to do with the bird moving on and off the arc? If so, is it possible to track this movement in anyway? I'm a complete newbie here, about to set up my 1st motorised system, this forum looks to contain lots of good advice ...
