    Ok, thanks Paul. I suppose the labgear receiver display showing "TV" is just a reminder that you have something being recorded, & thus don't inadvertently change channel.

    Jennie, have a look here: http://www.analoguesat.co.uk/ to see what's broadcasting. Maybe you can find a cheap ( < £20 ) analogue receiver, or maybe borrow one? There's no delay seeing the picture from analogue sat's & I found it much easier to get the dish close, then switch to the digital...

    1. Same as PCI card, fine 2. Yes 3. Don't know - can you give more info? 4. See 1. Files are Mpeg2, & dependent on originator for bit rate, etc. Some sat' channels broadcast way below DVD quality. HTH
