Rolf,
You were right , OTV is a channel on 1 west.
At least now I know where the dish is pointing to.
The reason I believed I was pointing at 13 east is that in using the Manhatten plaza st500 - to align the dish using the following steps :-
1) In the channel scan I selected Hotbird 13 E...
I have been avidly reading this forum as I want to buy a Sat PC card to allow me to record FTA Sky channel i.e. a PVR setup. So what I was planning to do is connect the LNB out socket from the Digibox to the PC sat card.
My choice is between the Technisat SKYSTAR 2 Rev 2.6D (42£)
but I am put...
Rolf,
There were about 2 freeview ones that I saw as I clicked through the channels - all the others were scrambled. There were about approx 288 channels identified by the Auto All channel scan.
Most of the channels show a low signal strength on the screen ( 30-50)
which seems quite poor.
I...
I can get OTV Ok - I cannot get any of the other FTA ones at all.
I have skewed the LNB and tried several skews to get the optimum.
I am going to have another go with getting the pole exactly vertical with a borrowed post level.
Thanks
I have been trying to set up my fixed dish for 'Hotbird 13 East' and the best signal strength I can get is 74%.
Although I can get some of the channels , How can I tweak the dish for a better signal?
i.e.
The pole is as vertical as I can get it on a harled wall.
My equipment:
1 meter dish...
Jacko ,
Thanks for your ideas.
Your method of using a 12v supply to drive the motor independently of the Receiver is very interesting approach. Part of my problems is that I am battling to use the Receiver to drive the Positioner - still thats another ongoing saga with the manufacturer to...
Hello jacko,
I took the plastic collar off and there was a bolt with an allen key head.
I had a go at unscrewing it but it turned out to be extremely difficult that I gave up half way through.
So I went back to driving it from the Receiver.
I tried using a compass to align the pole mounting...
altis,
Thanks for your suggestion. I had a look today but the there is no large plastic collar apart from a black ring with a pointer and I only remember seeing 1 fixing bolt! - I'll double check tommorrow.
Would I be correct in assuming that the pointer indicates the azimuth angle of the dish...
I had a look at the mount and I cannot see any sort of pin that one could take out.
Question: Will one have to tke off the Motor housing ( plastic) to get at this pin??
Also I have tried searching the web for technical details on the Silent Gold 99 hardware without sucess. Does anyone know...
I am having major problems installing my motorised dish system with the following Hw :-
-1 metre dish
-Silent Gold 99 ( I think by Jaegar) with an H-H mount.
On the actual motor it says 36v DC, Reed sensor , Adj E/W limits.
Initially I want to be able to move the actuator manually rather...
At the south facing wall where I want to fix my dish there is a telephone wire running approximate 10ft distance in front of the dish from a pole to my neighbour's house.
Will this impact on satellite reception ??
Thanks
As there is'nt many analog satellite channels is there any advantage in going for the 5500DAPCI combined analog&digital as against the 5500CIP Plus which
also has a 36v positioner but is about 30£ cheaper?
I checked the existing LNB and it is a :-
ALPS BSNE8-101A
10.7-12.0 GHz
I havn't been able to find any data on it ( apart from a reference to a
German site on Google) .
So it may be safer just to get a LNB at the same time as getting a receiver.
I had a Motorised satellite installed approx 5 years ago and the last few years
its been lying in the garage due to a house extension. I am now in the process of getting it rigged up and its fairly clear that I need to upgrade to a digital system.
The system is a 36V motorised system with:-
