Just to say that existing customers can get a Sky HD box for £49 but would have to pay an extra £9.75 per month. Personally I like HD but if you're busy at work it may not be economical. Works the same as Sky+ of course.
I pick up a few HD channels (unencrypted) on my Technomate 6800. This includes ITV HD which is really only available on Freesat. Sky's offering on HD is superior to most (apart from ITV). 13E and 9E have mature content channels but you need to subscribe and as Analoguesat says foreign subs for films etc...
Decide what you want to see and/or achieve. Then we can give you better advice. Try to be a bit specific as we would all like everything but it's not possible these days.
Not sure about the OTA service on 13E but if it was working and your software version matched their latest then nothing would happen.
Look at Darkman's site and you can check the latest s/w for XT and pick up a what's known as a softcam to update a few things rather than undertake a major s/w...
It's often the case that the disc failure is a boot or system failure and most of the stuff is on the disc still. It happened to me and I stuck the hdd in a usb connected disc enclosure plugged into my laptop. Pulled off all the drivers and stuff and just reformatted.
