thanks tiv, actually theres a signal strength indicator, in advisers flat it went green for astra 2, but here it stays plain red, not a tickle,but maybe im moving the dish too fast, or maybe its stuck on astra 2, when receiver turned on it always defaults to astra 2 and bbc 1...

You're lucky, I can't get Astra 19.2e at all...........not matter where I tweak the dish i can get only Hotbird.........tried everything.............is my receiver defective?

Update.......................19.2e is gone again, i can only get hotbird now, but, because i deleted the hated hotbird sat from search menu, the receiver now calls Hotbird ''Astra 19.2e'' instead of what it is, and identifies every channel as being on 19.2e.................no amount of...

Thanks fellas for clearing that up, i did wonder what 'freesat' was....its fta under aother name:-reindeer ,,,,,,,,,,,so, no need for a new box..........just a new telly, it seems the fta is hd capable, but the tv is not.....................HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.

My secret admirer lives in a block that has a SKY dish communal aerial.....but she has no wish to watch sky tv, so presently she uses an old FTA box to get non hd BBC tv and regions, Wales etc etc..... .is it possible to get a Freesat receiver to work on the sky dish?...and if so, .would she...

This is a follow up to my earlier post which sadly I cannot find anywhere on the forum..............basically; my tiny dish seems to be locked on to Hotbird and I want to get Astra instead at 19.2e, i need sat1 and 3sat for Christmas ...... but 2 hours tweaking has got me nowhere but back to...
