French digital with a Philex box

Thanks for that, I should have guessed. Why they should make it so difficult to pick up something that's free is somewhat baffling. At least SECAM is over.

French digital with a Philex box

I have a Philex box (28207RF) with a card slot in the front. Can I insert a card and use this to pick up the French channels (either Fransat or TNT)? I'm currently only getting the handful of free channels on AB3 (5W). I ask because 1. there's no mention of a card reader in the manual and 2...

splitting signal to analogue and digital

Hmm, that's not what Maplin say about it - "both receivers can watch different channels but they will be on the same polarization". Are they misleading customers by not specifically saying "at the same time" - if I were buying it, I would certainly assume that you could watch both boxes, and...

splitting signal to analogue and digital

This is really an academic question now since French analogue is on its way out, but I wanted to split the signal from my lnb to an analogue box in the kitchen and a digital one in the sitting room. I asked Maplin if this - =http://www.maplin.co.uk/2-way-satellite-splitter-9273 - would do it and...

    suddenly no signal

Hi All, Sorry, back on this (I was away for a while), I've had no joy and am thinking of calling in the professionals - in fact I did - and they tell me that there are no longer any analogue broadcasts from AB3. As I understand from Analoguesat, this is not correct - can you confirm? I'm...

    suddenly no signal

Thanks both. Had a wiggle of the dish and LNB and that doesn't seem to make much difference. Wet - possibly, I have a (well-wrapped) joint in the cable, but water could get in. I'll unwrap it and have a look.

    suddenly no signal

I have a AN1000 receiver which was picking up French analogue signals from Atlantic Bird 3 until about a week ago. Now nothing whatsover. Working backwards (from me) the TV's fine, the cable's fine and the box is fine. I switched boxes and plugged in a Fortec Star Beta, scanned the satellite...

I don't have a dish at all at the moment, so I'll just get a cheapie from Argos eg _http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5220081/c_1/1|category_root|Home+entertainment+and+sat+nav|14419512/Trail/searchtext%3ESATELLITE.htm and an LNB...

    France 1, France 2 and France 3

Well, that's what I thought, but you don't like to argue with a man with tools... And since we were about to move anyway. Is there anything else I need to know? I've got a receiver (bottom of the range Fortec Star), will a similar dish and LNB do the job? Thanks.

    France 1, France 2 and France 3

Spotted this thread and jumping in - I wanted to point my (sky) dish at Atlantic Bird 3 last year but it was frustratingly just around the corner of my house. I was about to go out and buy a longer pole to get the dish up over the roof line when a satellite installer turned up to fit a dish for...

Well, of course, scaffolding. I knew that, I just wanted to see if anyone else would think of it. :)

    Need steel satellite support pipe

Hello, new user here, this is a very basic request, I've just moved into a new house and there's a dish on the wall pointing at Astra 2 and I'd like to point it at Atlantic Bird 3. Now, it's set on the wall and the house is aligned in such a way (ie the house wall runs about N-S and AB3 is at...
