I had similar problem with all setting OK what turned out to be that DVI Connection need to be firmly attached thats why someone before said change to scart then back to DVI worked!!!

I also have a dreambox 500s I tried to connect it (thru NULL CABLE)& it succsseded with no problems to connect to dreamup so I tried to change connections & continue on dreambox 800 & did an erase (it did reset the lockbits but no erase)will it did change the first time to loading... then...

You may have a Voltage Shortage take it to an electrition to check if the voltage thats going to the Dreambox is OK - if there is some sort of an electrical Problem he would fix it .
