The content of the disk is not dependent on the electrical interface (although I cannot make out how your drive is connected from the convoluted description), so you should see the data fine.

I have solved my main requirement for the browser: to view IP ecurity cameras, by writing IPCamViewer; IPCamViewer allows viewing and control of IP security cameras from Enigma2 STBs.

Unzip and copy plugin.* /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/IPCamViewer. Restart enigma. It might still crash in PIP view, but should be OK in full screen view while you set up your camera.

I strongly recommend you start reading while you decide/wait for your DM. I also strongly recommend you buy either a DM500HD(uses external eSata hard drive) or DM800HDse(internal 2.5" SATA hard drive) (note the "se" bit) - the DM800(without se) is very flaky. The DM800HDse is the better choice...
