Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Hello Akisan, Good thing the system still send notifications. As for an update here goes: So I changed the feedhorn for an Andrews, and purchased an invacom Single LNB, but with no noticeable improvement. I might just add that I also purchased an Inverto C120, there was less loss ont he 20m...

Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Hello. Thanks to all you kind people for your comments, there was a lot to read, and things to chew over, such as the alignment, the feedhorn type etc., Satcom1: Do you think the channel master feedhorn would be an improvement over the feedhorn I already have? It's not too much $$$, so perhaps I...

Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Is there any way I can check the f/d ratios myself? I am at a loss to guess what it is. In any case, I certainly think I have to change the feedhorn, It seems a bit small for the dish, and no amount of moving it around and fine tuning will bring the signal strength up further than around 80%.

Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Hey, thanks for that information - I wrote to the company and they do not recognise the product and say it was not produced by them! Anyway - I will use the prodelin type 2194 as the template for the feed parameters, what I would like to ask is if anyone thinks the Andrews feed horn could be a...

Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Hello there, Today I made some more tests. While on the ladder I notided a manufacturer name on the dish - "Northern Satellite Corp" model: NSC 18-1. I tried finding some info on this company but cannot find any references on the google. Anyway, I stuck some pieces of mirror on the dish to find...

Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Thanks for the info. I was trying to find out exactly which dish I have. At prodelin, they say I have a 1183/1186 series, but the geometry drawing and the fixing arrangement for the feedholder are different. My ffedholders are screwed to the sides, unlike the 1183/1186 where they are fixed...

Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Hello, Well I connected the feedhorn to the LNB and fiited it to the mounts. One strange thing is that the feedhorn shaft is 27mm, but the holder is only 20mm diameter (see photos). This is probably why the signal strength is not as good as I would have like to get it. I suppose the real answer...

Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Thank you very much Llew for your help. I was going to throw out the SMW stuff that was attached to the feedhorn anyway, I think it is obsolete by now. I attached the pics, because it maybe that the feedhorn is not an original SMW one. Any ideas about the dish? It is cast plastic, and oval in...

Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Llew, I cannot say for sure that the feedhorn is an original SMW. The feedhorn was attached to the LNB. I will post some photos later this morning of the dish, and the LNB. Maybe the feedhorn was fitted onto the LNB when that was replaced, but that I don't know. back later........ Thanks, Thomas.

Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Thank you Llew. I have attached a pic of the inside of the feedhorn. The cover was shattered, I suppose for a while now - it just crumbled away in my hand. Beneath the external cover the metal rings are looking very matt, and probably oxidized. I wondered if this would affect the signal before...

Inside surface of Feedhorn - Shiny or dull?

Dear Feedhorn experts, I am living in Hungary and have recently acquired a large sat dish, the original LNB was an SMW. I am now in the process of changing the LNB to the invacom, and I will use the original Feedhorn from the SMW. Problem is, it seems to have oxidised, therefore I would like to...
