By the way, I just looked at my video and I don't think it's my main big cog has play in it - it's either the one it's driven by (with the non-cog bit on top) or the one that drives that one.

I get confused easily these days ..
sorry for the mix up buddy ..
I'll be removing it at some point along with the worm drive gear from my B/E/R 1224 ...in order to see if it has survived ..
When I do I'll have something for search and reference..
cheers
Evan

Yes, that's it, Martin. These look like standard, off-the-shelf cogs, so just need to have this measured by someone who knows how to measure them - maybe they are easily available.

I definitely want to get rid of the clicking thing - they play doesn't bother me too much. It won't have issues moving the 1m CM... though the Fibo 120 is much heavier, if I decide to use it eventually.

Welp, did a tiny bit of work today. Took it apart and refitted again, taking care to ensure that the tensions are at optimal levels. I found that the best way to put it together is loosely bolt the top part on and hand tighten the two big rerd adjusters. Then tighten them up until the part with the plastic cogs "hangs" off the the other one. You should just about be able to move it up and down with a bit of force with your hand. Then tighten up all the bolts.

Result - quieter operation, more steady speed throughout and no clicking!

I also received a stainless steel tube over the weekend for the spigot replacement but it was just a tiny bit too big, so I put it in a drill and sanded it down with some sandpaper until it just about fit. Still quite snug but that's what I want.

Ive just spoken to my S I L he can help with these, if you go to hpc gears there is a drop down list for sizes gear type pitch etc, obviously he needs to know these, I have told him to expect a phone call from Evan/Alex and to go the extra mile to help and he will :).

Well my circlip pliers arrived ..so getting the clip off that big gear was easy enough ..
removing it ..
well ..not so much ..
but its off ..and without getting the triangle lump off the main spiggot/axel of the knacked motor ..
You may remember I had cut the top cover some montha ago to remove it thus exposing the prime gear ..
Sadly this does involve taking the side plate off the gearbox ..so photos are a must ..on account the gears easily fall off when this plate is removed.
Not that I am much bothered about the BER motor ..but still .
here are some pics
>>
Now to clean the salvaged gear to see if it's viableP1000233.JPG P1000234.JPG P1000235.JPG P1000236.JPG

Hmm ..

1308569166901.png Not sure this would be an off the shelf part ..
The gear itself might be ...but is a serated push fit onto the metal of the worm shaft ....thus requires a precise fit on the inch long extension of the gear that reaches through the cast body and onto the worm..
..secured with the circlip ..
Ill try and get a shot inside the gear for you ..

No probs with the pictures ..
nor the diameter of the gear I should think ..
but the pitch ..ie teeth per cm etc might be tricky ..#
I'll upload what I can later ..

Ok pal try and get it in all one post what you need, he can then take a picture for reference, save him messing around joining the forum. we can address the teeth issue if and when he finds something much the same.
