Motor to 52 deg on Latitude scale (Take care as there are scales on either side of the Motor bracket, so ensure you use the correct one).

Dish Elevation Bracket to 22.5 deg (as a starting point for fine aligning)

You already accounted for Declination, so forget it now.

If you've got both the Motor and Dish roughly correct, the Dish face will appear to be near enough vertical, perhaps a little up from the vertical.

Hi, have you read this downloadable PDF?

Whereabouts are you in the UK, around the Midlands? Where you are will dictate which satellite you align to.

Using USALS,send the dish to Thor 0.8W/1W for your alignment, then proceed as per the guide. Start with the dish slightly leaning up from vertical, and adjust for best signal on BBC World News, on 11325H.

hi the motor is on 52 lattitude the dish at the moment is on 20,should it be 22.5 deg or 22.5 minus 7.5 deg as when i have it on 22.5 its pointing way up.in my motor manual it says your latitude is 52 so elevation angle is 38,declination angle is 7.5, and the dish bracket 22.5. my location lattitude is 52.290° and longitude is -0.708°. in reciever should that be set at 7.0 west for longitude and 52.0 north for latitude.just checking to see if i have that set correctly lol can i post pics on here so i can take a pic and show you

See Post #2 ............. Dish Bracket should be set to 22.5 to start with.

But as you say the dish is pointing way up, please also re-read my comment about the scales on the Motor: I suspect you've set 52 against the wrong scale .............

USALS should be set thus:

Lat: 52.3
Long: -0.71 (Or 0.71 W, depending upon whether it calls West W or - )

DO NOT use 7.0W for Longitude as that is way out.

Fine alignment includes not only rotating the entire Motor/Dish assembly in one piece around the pole, but also tweaking the dish elevation bracket (which effectively eliminates cumulative mechanical installation errors and compensates for poorly graduated scales).

In addition to the excellent guide in post #3, also take a peep at the attached for quick reference. It really is pretty much straight forward if your follow it.

As per your dedicated Thread , yes. Using the correct scale, of course ...............

And also take care to use the correct datum mark for setting it. Can be a bit tricky. Also tends to shift a bit when tightening off, so double check.

You posted in the polar angle, declination / dish elevation explanation thread so moved them here (active thread) :)

Either 0.71 W or Minus 0.71

It won't make any noticeable difference if you use 0.7W (or Minus 0.7) but you must ensure that either W or Minus (depending upon how the Receiver wants "West" defined) is specified.

If you leave it without, then the Receiver will default to East, which is wrong.
