Not sure what happened there, the signal loss / fluctuation only lasted a couple of minutes. The signal levels returned to normal so no swap yet. These are prime candidates for going over to 1N so whatever went on was probably related to a potential move to 1N soon.
Blimey SkyNews and Skysports 2 who would have believed it???

Why, on this frequency, my ClarkeTech 5100 gives level 92% and quality 85% and my Vu+UNO gives srn 0 and agc 79%?
The symbol rate is only 1 mega. The Vu+ range is specified at 2 megas. On the Duo I can get lock down to 1.5 megas but it is pretty hit and miss and can take up to 40 seconds to lock when changing channels if you manage to scan it in the first place. I used to get Canal Info News on the Duo before the power dropped and S/R for that is only 1240. But it was very difficult to scan in; it took about 20 attempts.

The TBS card, on the other hand, can scan much lower symbol rates, even down to 256 kilo-symbols.

Thanks for correcting me, you're right I should have said "Obviously these 2 frequencies could not transmit at the same time with these parameters".:)
Yes they could. Safe bandwidth for a 1 mega-symbol channel is 1.5MHz, so theoretically you could fit five in there.

Do you think SES are monitoring this thread for reception reports?

Fit 5 in where ? Are you saying that if 11171 H was active with a S/R of 22000 (which it was at the time) that you could also have an active frequency 6Mhz away ?

I think so, I said that earlier. It is a good opportunity for SES tech to check signal coverage over different spots. For them it's,if you want,a kind of feedback.Who would not like to have so many feedback when a work is so vast.We are doing a free service for them :)

No. At the time SR was 1000. Read back through the thread and you will see. You even wrote it yourself in your post #890.

Ok, but that is an S2 transponder so it's nothing to do with what's on 11171H which is viewable using an SD receiver.

how do you know this is 2B not 1N...also they are using these three channels coz sky news is free, pick is on a free to view card and sky sports is top tier,so can check all parameters

If you look earlier in the thread sky news in sd today has gone from 07d4 to 07ea to 07f3 in the space of a few hours, I have been merely reporting the facts and the apparent transient changes . As you know 07ea is Astra 1n the other 2 not....11171H is not receivable for me

11171 has never been at a S/R of 1000, for the duration of its test phase yesterday it was always 22000. Only after this was switched off for a period did the transponder re-appear at a frequency of 11165 with a S/R of 1000. My reply to 'sattom' in post #890 was to make it clear that it wasn't a resurrection of 11171 with a different symbol rate but a different frequency (albeit the same transponder). My assertion that 11171 H 22000 and 11165 H 1000 couldn't co-exist was correct.

This thread is moving to fast for me (I'm working at the minute). In future I'll get my lawyer to read all the small print before posting any more replies. Sorry to be so unhelpful.
