Astra 1N moving to 19.2E

It's only supposition, but owing to the need to release 2C for back-up duty at 28E, and it's condition, the latter is likely to be offloaded as first priority.

Looking at what has happened with other recent migrations, it seems probable this will start within a couple of days upon completion of integrity tests on 1N.

After 2C is emptied, then perhaps 1L will migrate.

1L will remain on station as back-up.

Maybe, but I can only fit an 80cm on my balcony, which is currently giving me about 14dB signal on 2C, 12dB on 1L/1M and 11dB on 1KR. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I'm sure Astra 1M will continue as normal. It was only launched in 2008.

Not sure why 1L is to be cleared and not 1KR, if that is the case. Maybe it is something to do with the spot beam capability of 1KR or the Ka Band capability of 1L/1N that is influencing the decisions?

Signals still strong. Just worked on the dish to make sure it was as perfectly aligned to 19.2°E as possible. Apparently I had quite a bit of room for improvement. Also was able to tweak the 13.0°E LNB to work in the new corrected position and was able to improve signals on both. Now we can wait and hope. I guess there is chance that I may still receive something over here(58.16°N 26.45°E) despite 78 cm offset, but just less weather reserve.

It was built to order - the construction was authorised not long after 1K went swimming with the fishes in the Atlantic. A different coverage design though - 1K had two none overlapping spots

As I understand it, the frequency reuse spots on 1K spots were originally intended to separately cover UK and eastern Europe. When 28,2 was chosen for UK the western spot beam was switched to cover Iberia. I guess once 1KR was commissioned there was less capacity demand as 28.2 was firmly established
