Can't see that here unless they've just dropped the carrier?

yes, it is gone again... very short tests it seems. All that idling, and now they are in a hurry.

Yep - since the end of November we suspect!! I think we may now see some testing at the weekend, will be interesting to see if any of the 33MHz TP's are tested on the UK beam?

does someone know where those weak signals on 11.550H 11.520H and 11.535V come from? They've been there for a few months now...

Astra 2E shuts out Spanish
January 31, 2014 08.53 Europe/London By Robert Briel

astra2e-official-cropThe Astra 2E satellite will enter into commercial service in the orbital arc of 28.2/28.5 degrees East on February 1, 2014, its tightly focused beam causing consternation to British ex-pats in Spain.
Over the coming weeks, BSkyB, Channel4, ITV and BBC programming will be transitioned to the new satellite with its powerful footprint over the British Isles. Newspapers serving the British community in Spain are referring to the Great British Switch-off as residents worry about losing reception of the channels from the country they left behind.
The satellite was launched on board an ILS Proton launch vehicle from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on September 30, 2013.
Extensive in-orbit tests have since then confirmed the satellite to be fully operational and performing to specifications.
Astra 2E has now been deployed at its final destination in the orbital arc of 28.2/28.5 degrees East, where it is co-positioned with Astra 2A, Astra 2F and Astra 1N.
The satellite was built for SES by Astrium of France. Based on the highly reliable Eurostar E3000 platform, the spacecraft carries 60 Ku-band transponders, including 12 incremental transponders for delivery of services outside Europe, as well as 4 Ka-band transponders.
Astra 2E enables the delivery of next generation broadcast and broadband services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Astra 2E, which had a launch mass of 6 tonnes, features a wingspan of 40m after its solar arrays have been deployed in orbit, and is designed to generate 13 kW of spacecraft power up to the end of its 15-year design lifetime.

Don't expect KoS etc. to be as up to date as the Forums >> they will catch up no doubt, but largely rely upon reports from much the same group of enthusiasts that Post here and elsewhere.

That's ill-informed Journalism based upon the sloppy PR piece SES issued earlier today.

I don't for one moment believe BSkyB will exist solely on narrow Beams.

Let's stick to our eternal mantra: "Wait & See!"

According to the gloom and doom brigade (spanish expat press) we should have lost everything on 2F uk spot but many people still have some channels. I still get channel 5, channel 4HD and ITV1 on 11053 most of the day with an 85cm dish and have an android box on the sidelines waiting to fill any gaps that may appear.

Also other options which I cannot discuss on this forum so things not too bad yet. I feel sure as problems arise solutions will be found. It is going to be an interesting few weeks.:-lol

If BSkyB wanted Spot Beam distribution, there would be no Europe beam at all on 2E /2F. The Spotbeam is a Freesat thing. The others do not care about it.

No changes have taken place as yet, so you will still get today what you had yesterday.

i think the big shock for a lot of ppl will be losing the fta channels. launching 2f uk didnt have that much of an impact as most channels were still receivable from 1n. i dont think sky would move to spot beams - the fact that the disney channels were (are being) moved to a pe beam (10862h->11914h) indicates the opposite, if anything - sky will make sure all their channels are on pe beam tp's.
as my fellow hungarians would say: dogs bark, money talks ;-)

@solly: the two data carriers on 11,464H and 11,479V have been there for months now. Both 16,5 dB SNR here - they most likely are on the 1N PE beam.
