What happened to that extreme winter forecast with a lot of snow and freezing temperatures?

The idiot who made it failed to notice the solar maxima.

:-rofl2

I have noticed a number of farmers working the fields over the last few days, something they haven't done so early for years. So it looks likely that the weather and temperatures will be average to mild over the next few weeks, possibly into March.

We still had flowers growing here back in December, something that is nearly unheard of.
A relation who has sheep stock said to me that he's only had to order some grain feed in the last week. This is in contrast to the last two winters where the cold, wet weather was putting a major strain on farmer supplies after very wet summers leaving fields waterlogged. This year though despite the rain we had a good warm, dry summer which helps soak up the current rain and there's been few frosts and little snow so the grass has kept growing. The sheep and lambs are quite fat right now, compared to this time last year when they were pretty much skin, wool & bones.

Away from the farmyard, it's been a nice day here, sun out, not that cold and a slight breeze. Enough to hang some clothes out. It's starting to cloud over now with another low pressure system coming in from the Atlantic.

Its been a beautiful day here today. The sun was streaming in through my office windows - I had to shut the blinds to stop the glare on my monitors on my office pc (mine is the only computer in the place with 3 monitors) :D

It's not been a bad day today, I seen a bit of blue sky out the office window and it wasn't that cold when I had a walk over to the petrol station but it's cold out there now

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

It's widdling down here at the moment, not that I care, I'm indoors where it's not widdling down, just sat here in the kitchen monitoring the new dishwasher to make sure it's all working nicely, which it is doing, and quietly too... :D

With this winter being as warm as it has been, it does beg the question of what Summer will be like, will we be roasting our nads off, or will it be even stormier than it is now? Usually when we've had a pretty cold winter, it's followed by a hot & dry summer, so, a wet winter, well, it could be a case of all hands abandon ship, cos the country is going to sink under all this rain... :-rofl2

We have the calm before the storm here, I'd give it about two hours before all hell breaks loose.

Strangely, it's dry with some sunny periods here. It's windy for sure but not excessively so...I may even get some of the decking laid on the ark this afternoon.....

Have had to abandon my ark construction for today, as the rain has set in again and the wind has probably doubled in strength. It's due Westerly and even though my motorised dish is edge on to it, it's got an alarming wobble from time to time....Well it needs re aligning anyway....

Not sure if they are 'creatures' as defined by the Old Testament...so I feel safe in leaving them out LOL......In any case as an atheist I shouldn't really be building an ark as obviously no one's told me to......

I know what you mean Pete ..
Both Tom and Diick are seriously misaligned ..but no point doing anything till all this is over ..If EVER.
Westerlies are the worst direction for me too ..
like a wind tunnel at the back of the house ..
..and it don't get much worse than gale force gusts up yer back passage..
I prefer 'em blowing out not in ..
lol

Unfortunately, I only have the one and would have to battle the geese for it......it's easier to repel the boarders....
