Welp, as suspected, the TM5402 M3 does NOT display SNR before lock - at least not for me.
...

Same here, the TM-5402 (M3) don't give a signal quality level indicator for channels it cannot lock.

The attached shows the Dr HD d15 showing the signal strength off signal lock while fine tuning with the positioner. This was out almost a year before the TM5402 m3 as I normally buy Technomates as the best for scanning feeds but an equivalent was not out at the time. I also use the inbuilt spectrum analyser a lot.

Ger, it's the latest 1.34p. Will try 1.17p. Will PV stuff still work on it?

Just tried 1.17p and that doesn't display SNR before lock either. I also found that my TrophyAccess CAM isn't being recognised in the receiver but the Conax one works. The TA CAM does work in F15 and Uno, so something is up with the receiver.

Another thing is the extremely limited satellite list. I think I can only have 64? That's nowhere near enough these days. Of course, this also applies to all derivatives of this receiver, including the original F15.

All these faults aside, it's a nice receiver to use.

Unfortunately no satellite receiver I have ever used has had 100% perfect software / hardware maybe one day they will get it right 1st time :)

imo it will never happen as what is perfect for 0ne person/set up/location wont be for another. Technomate do an excellent job though and apart from a few blips along the way are consistant in releasing excellent quality/VFM stb,s.

Hm, another issue with TM5402M3 - and something I've had with M1 too - I have a mixture of USALS and 36v motors, so I need satellites to be on different things. However, when I change a motor type for one satellite in TM5402, it changes it for ALL satellites. F15 doesn't do that.

I consider this a bug really... unless there's a way to do this that I don't know about? (without using a PC editor)

I agree. But it took me ages to fathom out what VFM meant. I think there are some new receivers due in the autumn so I have a used cheap TM 5402 to use for now so I can get my setup working by next week.

That bug is on all of the closed source models available, as you are already aware this is not the case with a Linux based Enigma2 receiver which can use a combination of the two quite easily

My Handan-made sd box from 10 years ago: very sensitive and fast 'no-lock-needed' signal meter (+audio freq to tv), and 1st class individual channel audio levels! (see attach.) Some (all!) modern receivers should have such functions.

As mentioned earlier, am using it for all my dish adjustments, especially good when signal is low or below picture lock, to get max out of every mm dish\lnb nudging (of course a decent meter will replace it someday).

Setting up a TM receiver with Several Fixed Dishes & a Motorised Dish

Use the TM Editor from Technomate & do the final settings in there or the ClarkeTech Editor will perform the same actions

Go to satellite setup:-
Astra 2 - set to DiSEqC 1.0 1 of 4
1W - set to DiSEqC 1.0 2 of 4
All my motorised satellites (eg Astra 1) set to DiSEqC 1.0 3 of 4.

On the receiver in Motorised Setting:-
Set all satellites that you want to USALS/DiSEqC 1.3 or DiSEqC 1.2. for Astra-1
Once this is done back up your channel list on a usb stick then save on your PC.

How to do that:-
Backing up and Restoring the channel list on your Technomate
Now you have your channel list saved to a file via a USB stick
Run TM Editor and open the file you just saved.

Then edit the fixed dishes to change the 'DiSEqC Positioner Level' to OFF.
The satellites on the motorised dish do not need changing.
Then save to File.

Then download the modified channel list file to your receiver to a usb stick
The dish will only move when you go to satellites that are on the motorised dish and won't move on fixed satellites.

Warning, whenever you go into motorized settings, and change anything, e.g. adding a new satellite, the whole process will have to be repeated.
The TM Editor is Official Technomate software, and should be available on the Technomate website, if not, 'google' for it.

The ClarkeTech Editor 3.18 performs better than subsequent versions this is what I use,

Regards..............William-1

Thanks, William, for the guide. Will do just that.

Strange that F15 doesn't do it, despite being essentially the same receiver (not sure about D15).
