OK! It's done. I am now getting 26E that I was not getting before - so that's new. I'll have to choose a few more sats to see what I am getting elsewhere, too! Happy!

About 53-57E and around 40W? Just guessing really. I have limits on the motor which I did not adjust for wider arc. I maybe should have had a slightly longer cable on from the LNB, but it should be fine.

Nice arc! There's not much beyond 30W in Ku band that's interesting but plenty over in the east... well, for me anyway!

I maybe should have had a slightly longer cable on from the LNB, but it should be fine.

Always thought that motorized had a cable from the receiver to the motor then a separate cable from the motor to the lnb.
These are constant lengths not variable.

ie receiver to motor will not stretch or shrink.
motor to lnb along the feed arm minimal stretch loop to avoid the motor bracket bolts when panning.

Might be wrong.

Regards

I usually do a loop over the top of the motor to avoid bolts - seems a safer route but there are other ways.

Don't know yet, Tivu. Got to try it. I have just taken some pics and will be uploading soon. Judge the install for yourselves, guys.

Here are the pics. You decide.

Personally I prefer to put TK's over two bricks. The real test will be when we get high winds! The installer used a Satlink meter (the one with a TV screen on) and I would have also used an extra washer on the other fixings or anchorbolts. What do you think of the install? The pole was not checked with a spirit level. In all (hate to say it) I think I could have done better. No disrespect to the installer.

I see what you mean about the cable slack.. or lack of. If you can, get a longer length and loop it over the top of the motor.

Agree about the 2 bricks comment. Might be a tad close to the top of the roofline, too. People usually suggest leaving 5-6 bricks on top of the top-most bracket, whereas you only have 1, so not as much weight holding the brick in...

Let's not start the "should the T go at the top or bottom" debate again, though the general consensus is that K goes at the bottom and T at the top. The K looks well reenforced, though.

Doesn't necessarily need a spirit level, a digital angle gauge/protractor will do as good a job, they're small and magnetic. If that pole is steel are you sure you didn't miss seeing him set it vertical when installing it? Are the bottom bolts capped or just rusty? Seems to be a bit short on washers too. A personal bug bear of mine is leaving excess pole above the dish or aerial too. CJ, I always put the K at the top for the little extra strength it offers against sideways motion. Also I find it easier to clump the lower T bracket with the big hammer to set vertical :)

imo theres too much pole above the top K and in heavy winds it will wobble about losing signal. going off the pictures it looks like a 66% above 33% below
Yes, the pole should have been lower down too, though the dish itself probably couldn't have gone any lower as it would hit the top of the roof.

I used to put K at the top but now put it at the bottom following other people's comments. Seems a mix there and no hard rule for this. Best is, of course, 2x K brackets :)

At a later date I am going to call in someone else to sort this. There are things here that I am not truly happy with. Some courses of brick are hidden behind facia. Not a bum deal - but could have had a better one. Your opinions are welcome!!

Tony, I wouldn't be truly happy either. The LNB cable could have easily been run through the inside of the LNB feedarm, then as CJ suggests loop it over the top and behind the motor. It would be far neater than it looks now. I'm not convinced that the pole is 100% vertical, though it may be that the camera lens is distorting things. I'd definitely have the pole brought down a bit too. Are you getting sats at the extreme ends of your arc? 45E is a good strong signal and 53E isn't too bad either to check the eastern end.
