Guys! I have loads of washers that could have been used! Anyhoo, I'm getting 50-54% quality on 7.3w and on 26e, 58-74%. Sirius 4.8e is end-stopping. Any good? As regards the install he had been held up on another job which took him longer than expected and I felt mine was rushed. Keyword! Quality! That should be every time, all the time. All I know if I get problems with my brick work due to this, I can actually loosen the bolts and slide it down. It takes a brave man to fit a bolt and not put a washer on it. I just feel it was not done properly.

Those signals sound reasonable, but what does "end stopping" mean on 4.8E?
There are lots of channels, and packages, on 4.8E, try a few FTA ones:

End-stopping as in 98-99% quality. FTA!

Have you tried 4W, as per Post #71, Tony?

You're getting good signals, on weak satellites, for 4.8E, try some of the weaker, viasat, channels, just to see the quality, like 11345 V 30000 S2-8PSK 3/4

I incorrectly thought that the installer had to rush to another job after yours, which is why he missed the washer and LNB cable tidying.

The pole will not be the reason for anything coming loose on the wall and if you did decide to drop it down you will almost certainly need a meter to realign the dish correctly.

Now you have signal on all the satellites that require a dish of this size, the only piece to be rectified is the washer. Are you brave enough to climb up the ladder with a spanner ?

Still trying to look for a decent installer to put some things right - not easy. Just for info, when it rains, I lose 7.3w.

OK then...no worries. But I still want this re-installed to a high standard. I have just called someone in Ashington who was recommended by a retailer so fingers crossed on this one. But I don't want the original installer back. No! Using a fixing bolt with no washer on it? Jesus! :-doh

This afternoon I contacted The Satellite Superstore (Tyneside) and they recommended an installer they know from Ashington. Just spoke to him and all being well, he'll be here Wednesday morning to sort this mess out.....properly!! When I told him about the fixing bolts and the pole not checked for being in true vertical, he was not impressed at all. Can you blame him?

If the pole wasn't vertical I doubt you would get 26E and 7.3W.
If you can please check 42E, or 39E, then 30W, and post some of the channel details, names, frequencies, polarities, S/R, and the signal quality levels, then someone can confirm that the dish is correctly tracking the arc.

By the way. Did I mention he tried to whack the LNB arm into place on the dish bracket? It's true I'm afraid. Hmmmmm.

Does it really matter whether he tried, or succeeded ?

Is there anybody in the near vicinity of this installation that gets more with a similar dish ?

I would leave well alone .

It seems it performs as it should and it could do for many years .

Touching it could even drop signal for some satellites and it means you will pay again for what you already have .

At the end of the day , whatever makes you happy is what path you should take , good luck .

I'm doing the right thing by getting this rig sorted out properly as I am not happy with the other person's work. Simples!
