blademedia,

Have you any dish size in mind that you plan to put on the portable dish base? Is it going to be some awesome monster that your neighbours will awake to with shock one morning after an all night erection job?

blademedia,

That drill looks a very nice piece of kit. From reading your feedback after using it you seem to have a good impression of it.

Would you please be able to tell me if the drill is capable of securing box section or angle iron in place for accurate drilling? On the steel that you have drilled in the photos it looks to be held magnetically in place on a flat surface of the part to be drilled and then the hole is drilled in front of the magnetic base? How would this work for a piece of angle iron or box section?

The holes it drills seem very precise and neat and it has got a meaty motor on it, its a real beauty and the portability is a huge plus.

Hello its the best drill I have ever used very accurate and precise, they would be no problem with small box section/angle iron, the best way to do it would be to get a independent metal plate (anything will do thick metal) for the drill to lock to as you say the drill is electro magnetic a 12/12 inch plate screwed to a secure surface would be sufficient.

Another reason for buying this drill was precision I will be constructing a polar mount for my 2,4 as you will well know precision is a must.

Are these drill bits only suitable for magnetic drills or can they go on the bench one?

They could be used in bench drill but you would need a big chuck diameter is something like 16mm most chuck only accept 12mm ?

You should always cover the drill end on a rotabroach with suds, you want to keep the drill bit as cold as you can.

bought proper drill bit for rail line today lots better, drilling complete on the outer base, now 16/18 lengths of pipe to drill and fix,

bigger picture of the drill as you can now see its self lubricating to keep the drill cool starts pumping fluid on the drill once its running

containers turned up today with dishes in will get the 2.4 out tomorrow ready for instillation

blademedia,

What were your impressions of the Evolution MAG drill that you bought before the Rotabroach? Was it simply not up to the job or not particularly well built? The Rotabroach seems to be making easy work of cutting the holes, especially with a good quality cutting bit.
