Its ok messing around with a big company sending them out in cardboard and bubble wrap any damage would be replaced:), but try arguing with a foreigner /a carriage company when your second hand dish is in pieces/dented and you've spent £300 + and no one wants to give you your money back :(
Can´t argue with that Martin, best buy new with the back-up. If not, hire a van and pick it up yourself!
Better still, BUY FROM " MILAMBER @ LAMINAS GLOBAL " , hopefully!

Closest to the UK would appear to be 2Galli ...France ..
??
Laminas. Dealers
Sadly No UK Vendors found..
Sometimes I wonder why we want to stay in Europe..
We are isolated ...and not just by water..
Doh!
I asked for a quote from them for my first " test " dish. The price was not too bad, but the postage from France was 50% more than the postage from Poland. Hence I now speak direct with Laminas

Sorry yeah I'm on my phone. I think it was an extra 200 quid. The prices are on their website. Just add €145 for delivery.

I have a feeling this maybe the direction I might go in ..
ie ..an AS1800 with polar mount ...though I think the PM is a bit overpriced though not by much..
Id rather have that choice of actuator or motor to drive..
Are you still considering the Laminas Drats ?
Just out of curiosity ..whereabouts in Mano are you relative to me ..
Swinton.
Sadly I dont drive so can't come see you easily...

Although I realise Brian is putting feelers out about becoming Laminas stockist in Spain, I have dealt with 2Galli before, indeed I got my Laminas dish from them. It may not be worthwhile for most people but I am willing to be a 'postbox' and hold onto a dish from 2Galli here until someone could pick it up.Postage internally in within France is a bit cheaper.

AS a rough guide, polar mount for 1800 would be €450 plus vat and delivery

Jokes aside Pete, I went direct to Laminas because Galli wanted about 50% more on the postage from France than Laminas wanted from Poland, coupled with the fact that they had their mark-up on the dish!
BUT
If you have inter european storage facilities, OH HAPPY DAYS! GAME ON!

Yes I was talked out of getting one Dave I was told there rubbish ?

Martin,

I have seen a couple of the SSS 1.4m prime focus dishes and in my personal opinion they are flimsy and with a thin finishing coat. Again, just my personal opinion but they are nowhere near the quality of Precision/Elite. Whoever talked you out of buying an SSS prime focus dish did you a favour, you would have been disappointed after having been exposed to the world of Precision/Elite.

If Carlsberg made satellite dishes it would not be a Primesat prime focus.

Didn´t have the price list to hand last night, but have it now.
If you went direct to Laminas the 1.8 with az/el mount would be €651 plus vat ( 23% Poland ) total €800.73 plus shipping to UK ( € 145 to UK according to above post )
What satshop24 are doing is using vat rate from Germany ( 19% I think ) and passing on some of the wholesale reduction they get, thus making it cheaper than going to Laminas direct. They get Laminas to ship direct to the client so they don´t have to include that cost in their prices ( smart move )
With regard the Polar mount it is about €140 more at wholesale price ( ex vat ) so probably would be about €200 more from them.
Also noticed they do a complete package including a super jack harl 3618+ , lnb, stb as well, all sent direct to your door! only €939 plus shipping!

Martin,

Any reason why not the Elite 2.4m?
The 2.2m would seem the choice from the pair of 2.0/2.2 as it gives you the bigger scale up from your 1.8m channel master.

Once you think "I will get the 2.2m", there is that voice in your head saying "if I am thinking of going for the 2.2m why not bite the bullet and go for the 2.4m"

Whatever you go for I am sure we will see some spectacular extreme fringe reports on the forum, them circular polarity Ruski channels will be well vanquished. With the 2.4m There might even be a very remote chance of some 68.5E C band QPSK feeds in absolutely perfect weather conditions with a top class PLL LNB. I think the 68.5E C Band 8PSK might be beyond a 2.4m though.

Cant wait to see the topic title of "2.x metre Elite Antenna Install" appearing on the forum.

Have you got a link to this, as I can't find the offer on their site...

Excluding an STB, the cheapest 2Galli can do for similar items is almost €1200
