Advice Needed Where in UK to buy 1.8m

My Satellite Setup
VU+Duo, Vu+Duo2, Vu+Zero, Gibi 1.5m, TBS 6903 PCI
My Location
North West UK
Before I bite the bullet and order a Laminas from Europe, does anyone know suppliers based in UK that sell 1.8m dishes at a reasonable cost? I would rather buy in UK in case it turns up damaged.

Either Prodelin,Laminas,Andrews, happy to consider prime focus too. C band won't be required only ku.

I am unsure about the price but Elite antennas are in the uk, please let us know the price of a 1.8 if you enquire :),

I made contact with Julian Robbins at Elite, very helpful chap.

1.8m with AZ/EL £1993 + shipping
1.8m with PM £2693 + shipping

RX only KU band

Lead time is 6-8 weeks

However....that is way above my budget. I hear there good, but twice the price of a CM???

Were those prices just for the dish with feed support arms, Ku band feed transition and either Az/El or PM?
Or did the prices include a ground stand?

SSS do sell prime focus dishes but they are the Primesat make, not Elite.

Common folks, you better think about ways how to ship antennas from over the Channel, it is possible to get them here really not expensive (usually second-hand though). But, second-hand does not necessary mean crap.

Yes I was talked out of getting one Dave I was told there rubbish ?

That's the problem Rimants shipping, cost and by the time it did get to the uk I would dread to think what state it would be in :(

OK, I´m working on being the Laminas rep for Spain. Possibly not as good as a CM, or other similar dishes, BUT not to far off them.
1.8 with az/el mount would cost approx €700 plus vat ( approx 23% ) plus shipping to UK, I,d have to guess about 220€, but that is a guess. Total direct from Laminas should not be much more than 1100€ ( I am guessing on UK shipping ) could be a tad more! But not much.
If it is, pm me, I´ve just ordered two for test purposes, may post one on!

SORRY IF THIS POST CONTRAVENES FORUM CONVENTION

If permitted, will add Laminas website address at a later time ( that is if you cannot find laminas.com yourself! )

That was I've meant- think about proper ways how to ship. I think that big dishes, for example 1,8m and up can be properly packed to prevent damage during shipping.

Well the proper way would be to make a frame out of wood around the dish and box it in ? we would have to make sure the seller was a joiner :),

NAH!, these days it´s bubble wrap and reinforced cardboard! Trust me I know, had one delivery from Laminas already and nothing was damaged at all. ( Three dishes in one box )

So do I take it the mention of £615 for the basic AS1800 AZ/EL shipped to Manchester referered to earlier was a bit ambitious ?

My 1.8m came by TNT and its packaging involved a cardboard box, no foam or anything really. The driver also stared at me at the door and Im like 'Yes?' 'Can you come get it out my van'. :D

This was SSS, I dont want to bad mouth them or TNT, as the dish was flawless but yes you'd expect some padding.

Its ok messing around with a big company sending them out in cardboard and bubble wrap any damage would be replaced:), but try arguing with a foreigner /a carriage company when your second hand dish is in pieces/dented and you've spent £300 + and no one wants to give you your money back :(

Sometimes I wonder why we want to stay in Europe..
We are isolated ...and not just by water..
If only we had some sort of tunnel and rail link to mainland Europe ..
