Technomate 6900 Receiver continuous shutdown problem

I've got a Technomate 6900 HD Super receiver which began shutting down suddenly and could not remain switched on for more than a few seconds - just long enough to see the menu before shutting down once more. Suspect 'little fingers'..... But, although I can switch on and momentarily see the...

Which external HDD for technomate 6900 Super Combo

Eventually got the Freedom 320 external drive that runs off the USB without any seperate power. Mine arrived already formatted with FAT32 file system so no fiddling about. Plugged straight in, works a treat. Biggest advantage for me is that I can watch films the following day and wizz through...

Which external HDD for technomate 6900 Super Combo

Back in April I found these forums crucial to helping me set up my system (pictured elsewhere) and after getting used to the system I'm ready and able to move on. SO, can anyone advise on a proven external hdd that's freely available (PCW for example) that can store BBC HD progs w/out problems...

    Lost in translation

Recently erected my own kit and now I'm getting to grips with the hardest part - discovering what my kit is capable of. To this effect I've discovered a whole new tech language that details how to locate a satellite channel. Can anyone fill in the blanks for me and other newbies? Here's an...

    Muddywellies' installation

Thanks everyone for your comments. I've had a number of positive comments about the look of the dish from visitors. As already mentioned it's just a simple FM aerial, without it we could not receive any signal. (I'm something of a HiFi nut). We can't use a mobile phone in the house for the...

    Muddywellies' installation

Here are a few pics of my first DIY satellite installation. The first view is a general view of my gable wall facing due south. The reference set up sat was Atlantic Bird at 5W. I'm rather nervous at any height above terra firma so 8mm rawl bolt hooks were used to secure the ladder using steel...

    TM 6900 Sat search query

So where am I going wrong with this? Menu - Installation - Sat Set up - OK - Highlight Choice - Yellow - Exit - Exit - Exit SAT button = No change.

    TM 6900 Sat search query

The SM6900 has a sat list of around 15 sats located between 30W and 32E all accessible by the 'SAT' button on the remote. Press the 'Menu' button followed by 'Satellite Setup' so the Sat menu appears. Highlighted across the top is an exhaustive list of sats which can be scanned either blind or...

    Result!

For weeks my good friend and neighbour, who has previously extolled the virtues, the quality and the range of programs available through SKY, has given me something of a ribbing ever since I voiced my decision to go take the 'Freesat HD Humax' route. Although I ultimately dropped the Humax for...

Dead moteck - it never rains.......

Obviously a common problem. I confess I didn't think to chop the bolts the night I 'finished' - I was just delighted to get out of the rain and see a picture which proved there were no component/connection issues. It was a huge relief. Sorted everything out this morning and it works a treat...

Dead moteck - it never rains.......

In daylight I can see the connector still in place but the tuner cable floating loose. Confident it won't take a moment once the weather allows. On the flip side I must say that everyone was hugely impressed with the picture quality. Never dreamed it would be that good. Even non-HD programmes...

Dead moteck - it never rains.......

That's what's happened SM, thanks. Will fix in daylight. Had enough of ladders for today. . . . Cable wasn't tight - at least not until it caught on the supporting bolts. No lasting damage I hope.

Dead moteck - it never rains.......

After no success installing my kit yesterday, I took down my dish and redid my LNB connections, put it all back together and within ten minutes had super pictures across the heavens! Fabulous result. That was 6pm. But now I don't have a peep from the motor. No movement. And no lights of any...

    LNB connection problem perhaps?

Robbo, my LNB is the Invacom single uni SNH-031. SM. Followed your guide which is why I used Atlantic 'cause it's almost directly opposite my long. Now, what's the bit about the LNB? Is there a menu page I can check this? The tv's playing a family DVD right now but when it's free I'll take a look.

    LNB connection problem perhaps?

Spent a damp day installing new kit as per my signature, completed hardware install ensuring perp pole, then spent an unsuccessful half-hour at day's end trying to find a signal. 'No or bad signal' reported across the heavens - 'Strength' = 80 and 'quality' flutters in the 20's. Moteck unit...
