My Satellite Setup
DM8000HD, motorized dish, 1.5tb HDD & Sony DVD slot-in D/L drive.

Hi all,
I've been away for 16 years... (a bit like Bobby Ewing in Dallas, anyone!?)

We moved house at the time and never re-installed the DigiPower Motorised Dish 800mm, with a DigiPower SG-2100A motor on it.
The Dreambox has been stored ever since.

Do I sell this stuff?
Is there still a demand?

I remember this cost me thousands when I bought in 2009!
On another note, I have just cancelled Virgin Media, and previously had Sky Q at the house, so all cables are intact.
Going FreeView and use KODI on my Nvidia Shield, have the usual Netflix, Amazon Prime, and just cancelled Disney+ too.
 
Your DM800HD is still worth keeping, it can work with most satellite broadcasts that home users or hobbyists want to receive.
It will not work with 4K or S2X transmissions but will be OK for HD stuff.

Is it an original DM800HD or one of the clones? You can probably update the image on it but the image needs to be a specific variant for an original or a clone.

Hi Moonbase. It's an original DreamBox DM800HD.
I wouldn't even know how to get updating this again after so long. Should I be putting up my dish as well, or use it with the existing Sky cables and dish?
 
Your sky cables should be OK, just connect up your 80cm dish with a universal LNB, connect up the dreambox at the other end and give it a go, nothing to spend except time and nothing to lose.

If you find you need to upgrade the dish then it should not be difficult to go up to 1.2m on your motor. Perhaps 1.0m/1.1m for a bit of safety margin?
