You certainly cant fault the quality of these dishes, mines still in the same shape as the day it was spun, very impressed.

Hi John, so if I'm reading this correct the 2.2 is £1250 + vat without paint ?

If the price reduction without powder coating is £300 (£250 plus VAT), is it a practical option to purchase the antenna without a coating?

The buyer would need to buy paint and allocate time to applying it to the antenna. I have no experience in coatings but I think with something as large as a 2.2m antenna there might be issues to get an even and good quality finish? The end result might not be of the same quality and resilience as the powder coated finish aplied by Elite. I can see the point about the cost reduction but would the saving be justified?

John,

The price for the 2.2m has increased from £1050 in the quote I received in late 2015 to £1530 in your quote today, both figures excluding VAT. Thats almost a 50% increase in 15 months. You deffo gonna need the hammer on that piggy bank now although I have been reliably informed you are well wedged up and can easily afford it :)

:-lol

Hi moonbase, I cant see it making much difference if you was the worst painter in the world, beauty with aluminium your only wanting to cover the dish it protects itself, once painted just go over it with wet and dry if its not very good

With aluminium, unless you live near the coast, a paint finish is largely cosmetic and there will be minimal deterioration of the metal itself.

Yes, I forgot about the aluminium aspect and lack of corrosion.

Let's see which option John goes for, he is supposed to have plenty of money according to "scopus", I think he will go for the bare metal and save more money :)

Pretty sure BM is selling his.

How would your local planning council look at the saucers?

Painting might go some way to toning down visual impact, the unpainted ones in the Elite video are a bit shiny! In fact probably enough to cook the LNB on a sunny day during outage week. Fortress metal paint from B+Q is good, I've used it on a couple of aluminium items with no primer, I also used it on my 1.2 Gibertini, applied with a small roller it goes on uniformly.

Iv'e made my mind up re: 2.4Channel Masters CJ, there just too heavy and huge .
I allready have planning permission in place for a 2.2 PF antenna that dates back to when i had my first one, so good to go really.

The idea was to get the cheapest possible way to replace my old 2.2.
I already have the support arms and the triangular frame to mount to the AZ/EL mount somewhere off the old dish and i can spray the reflector myself or use that stuff you mentioned which sounds a good idea to look at.
Early days yet, still mulling it over, came out a bit more than i wanted to pay ..... iv'e got 30 days on the quote to mull it over lol.
