Astra 1N @ 28E - about to go on air / on air!!

it very week signal on astra 2a
let hope tomorow morning i receiver sameting
what i can tell about astra 1n
it look astra 1kr or 1l faild beam

just a hint/warning for those receiving 11171 with a sky box:

just read in another freesat forum that sky boxes will receive and show data for this frequency atm in any case from the originating tp (on 2A?), not 2N so all reception data from sky boxes might be wrong atm if he is right

wow just looked at this thread for the first time and the signal is very strong, 11171 scans in the add channels bit fine here on my amstrad hd box.

Still no lock on 11126 and 2D is getting weak now, BBC HD is breaking up. This is odd considering I have clear skies.

Update : After a little tweaking of my Freesat box I managed to ask it to manually tune 11127 V 22000 2/3 DVB-S2 8PSK.....and bingo, under SID 21200 I am getting Channel 4 HD at Signal Level 85 and Quality 100. Not entirely sure why my Freesat Box is picking it up loud and clear but my Tevii S480 + ProgDVB combination is resolutely refusing to acquire any signal at all....anyway, good news

aha.... 1N is using the same "zero" skew as all the other satellites on 19.2 East... this is why I get that massive cross talk on 1N with the motor dish...

this is what I get from a 55cm (!) camping dish with "zeroed" LNB skew:

11171H "only" 89% SNR on Vu+ Uno from Zone 1 mini-dish here, compared to 99% from 11127V from the same location. So, not as strong here.

I'd say this was probably a test put up by Sky purely for doing compatibility testing on their STB's. Working in the Radio industry I'll be the first to let you all know if there is an impending change to the Sky News TP as SNR (Sky News Radio) will also move and IRN will let each station know they'll need to amend the tuning parameters of receivers.

If I catch wind of anything you'll all be the first to know on this forum!

@solly: yeah, but to align the skew I always have to climb on the roof ... and I got the motor so I wouldnt have to do that. Now I climbed out to freeze my b... off to align the skew. Thanks SES for not sticking to the skew like the other satellite companies.

Not sure if 11.171H is still on, but I'm not getting anything at all on an 80cm dish in Helsinki after trying all the various combinations mentioned in this thread so it looks like a Pan-Euro Beam 1 from here. I can get the old 12.207V Sky News transponder on my 80cm dish at night.

Works fine here in DK, but not stronger than 2A (e.g. 11778) - very similar in other respects in fact (C/N, MER etc)

Working well in Stockholm with ,y 110cm dish. Very Similar quality To 12.207v. Time for a dish upgrade?
