Hi. I am also a new member. Thought you'd like to know here in Northern Slovenia in the Kamnik Alps all BBC signals are being received well.
S=70% Q=85% (BBC HD & BBC 1 HD). This on very modest equipment. If you listen carefully you can hear expats in South & Eastern Europe cheering.

believe me, I would gladly pay the UK TV licence fee to ensure that I will have Freesat reception beyond this time next year... but since I am neither a UK expat nor have a UK address, that appears to be impossible.

Getting all those FTA channels from the UK has probably saved me hundreds of euros over the last five years that I didn't have to spend on renting DVDs just so I could watch something in English (and it also meant I didn't have to see my favourite shows and movies get mangled to bits by dubbing on German TV). I would pay any reasonable amount of GBP to UK licensing authorities to keep enjoying that luxury.

Unfortunately, it seems that people like me are the very reason why UK broadcasters are so keen on putting Freesat on a tight spot beam...

Interesting that Stockholm has apparently lost the signal (at least with a 1.2m dish), while here in northern central Germany, 1N is coming in notably stronger than 2D... longitude wise, Stockholm is only about 300 miles east of Hanover... which again goes to show the steeper signal cutoff and reduced overspill of 1N compared to 2D...

The 300 miles is of no relevance. The important thing is how far off axis you are. Hanover is only 1.0º off axis while Stockholm is 2.1º. If you read the Eastern Europe thead you will see anything much further than 1.5º requires at least a 1.8m dish.

Don't let it get your blood pressure up. It's not like we are using mindishes. And anyway it's not like the old days. Now it's just programs like "rubbish in the loft" and suchlike. And then there's the repeats, I'd guess more than 50% on BBC2 and around 80% on Three and Four.

I'm not worried, LLF myself But the only reason stations went free to air with a spot beam, was because the signal would not be very strong outside the UK - yes, I know there are some pretty big dishes used in some places. Anyway, carry on viewing

no ,but i found out why ...there is a very strong signal coming from benimeli DTT station witch kills that transponder completly ...never knew that spanish DTT have horizontal Qpsk links using sat band ,,its the whole bloody Canal9 mux

what? are they legal? i've never heard of DTT transmissions preventing satellite reception.would that affect the Spanish channels on 19E too?

i would suspect so, the frequnecies are competely differnet it need to be faulty transmitter causing itnerferences from my knowledge but how it owuld affect i couldnt say but i would think it affect any other satilletes

Today in stockholm after 1N switchover:

BBC HD: s84 q84
BBC1 HD: s84 q84
BBC2: s85 q78
BBC3: s85 q78
BBC4: s84 q80

Every channel still works, however a small drop in quality on the H transponders, maybe the dish needs som fine tuning.

Signal strengths for me in stockholm right now:

BBC HD: s82 q82
BBC1 HD: s84 q82
BBC2: s86 q87
BBC3: s86 q87
BBC4: s85 q87

And that is with a 80 meter cable.
It will be very interesting if they go up or down tomorrow.
