Now I'm not sure this is just a big wind-up.
I can assure you it is not.
terryashbyash and I had never met or been in contact before he called me Friday last week for the LNB.
I was just responding to the fact that the LNB i delivered this morning had made a difference in reception of the channels.
I cant take any credit for aligning, as all i did was deliver the LNB then left to the next job. terryashbyash did everything himself, and gets the channels even aligning with his "beeper!" I did say I hope he posts the results on here, which he has done.

Anyway that is one of the few installers at the north end of the Costa Blanca that I actually recommend when a job is out of area I cover.
I am sure he appreciates it

Well for sure you can get can get the EPG off 11426 on EB1 on that dish. That gets you about 150 channels..

Thanks for the info Huevos...I take it the eb1 transponder (11426) will only give me epg for the channels on eb1?? not bbc1 itv etc? cant get 11778 at all at the moment but havent checked very early in the morning...i could try it and set it to download automatically at say 4am - 6am to see if that works..if not i'll have a little tweak at the weekend cheers richard

11426 on EB1 is the Freesat home transponder and carries the Freesat epg info - it wont give you anything useful on a Sky box!

The sat and pc guy from gandia delivered my lnb, slapped into holder and before even adjusting had channel 4, now have BBC1,2,3 + 4. Itv1, 2, 3 + 4 c4,e4 film4, more 4 and all the C5s plus BBC news and the all important five live and sports extra radio channels. Thanks to all for the advice. Signal levels up 2-3db and quality between 50-95% but even lower figures seem to have stopped dropping out. Will update after tonight to see if still good at night.

Terry, can you update if reception was OK at night?

Excellent news terry...glad you got it working ok...I might buy another black ultra...i had one last year but didnt see any difference between my b.e.s.t lnb and the ultra...Although i read loads of reports on it saying that it was excellent and everyone else said it improved signals...maybe i had a dodgy one. anyway i ended up giving it away but might but another one to see if it improves things..Tell me can you get 11778 where you are? im assuming not on a 1m
Just for info 11778, not a sniff of anything. some fade of some channels itv2/itv4 after 9pm rest ok ish.

Just a vote of thanks, we now have many more channels and for longer thanks to the new lnb, and it was cheaper than buying one from the uk with much faster delivery. I know these channels may dissappear next year but €25 for 10 months viewing is a no brainer. Cheers!!

My Satellite Setup
Triax 70cm , Sky hd in uk . CM 1.2 & 1 m at work various stbs for footy , 1.8m Prodelin in Mallorca and foxsat HDR
My Location
Lancs uk , Mallorca Spain
I came back from southeast Mallorca on tues where I had a tweak of my 1.8m dish with inverto black ultra quad whilst I was there .
On my Humax HDR I am now getting 100% sig and 100% quality 24/7 under clear skies .
Signal strength was anywhere between 82.6 to 79.8 dBuv and mer 14.3 to 13.4 . I did notice a slight drop in the evening 81.6 to 75.2 and 12.8 to 12.1 , which it always did with 2D .
Hope this info is of use . We will have to wait and see what happens when the other satellites get up there ! Not bad for now though .

Just did a scan on my Free to Air box and getting loads of Channels I wasn't getting before. I am in the Costa Blanca, so I am really pleased. I have lost SKy News but added. BBC 1 BBC 2 ITV 3 and loads of others. I'll play around with skew when I feel brave enough. I worry I will loose what I have.

The same happened to me when I first scanned for channels. I'm getting Sky News now on 12168 V27500. Just try that frequency. If you still can't receive it, you might need some realigning of the dish.

How are you guys getting Sky News on 12.168V? It's a DVB-S2 transponder with just four HD movie channels on it as far as I can see?

Are you sure your box is not just locking on to 12.207V which is 39MHz away? That's where Sky News should be.

Community Channel and some Sky News feeds are also on that same transponder.

I went to 12168 downloaded and voila there was Sky News and a couple of other inconsequential channels.

Here in Gandia when aligning my dish I always use 12207(sky news) as it seems the strongest transponder, even during yesterdays tv blackout due to the rain I still had sky news. Also a question to the knowledgeable out there, would waxing my dish with a quality car wax help it to shed water. I remember hearing somewhere that you could attenuate signals by spraying dish with water so assume if it is dry it would improve signal.

I find for certain LNBs it's the water drops on the LNB cover that cause more issues than a wet dish itself. Some people wax their LNBs with water repellent materials or you can carefully wipe the LNB dry when it stops raining if it's easily accessible. Also the amount of moisture in the air between the dish and the satellite has a big effect and there's not much you can do about that.

I would think it makes more sense to align your dish to the weakest TPs. Your strongest (12207) is on 28.5 on the South beam, but your weakest were/are on 28.2 (2D/1N). If you are not aligned to your weakest, you will definitely lose them in the rain, whereas the 2B South TPs will probably hang on even it you have fine-tuned to 28.2. Personally, I didnt lose any channels in yesterdays quite heavy rain.

Bear with me here but how can one be so precise. My meter will show me Astra 28 but not 1N. So I just wiggle it about looking for the best signal. Is there a more precise method?. I am on a steep learning curve so forgive me.

Apologies, I start with sky news and then switch to weaker channels to fine tune, for some reason I have had to use the 4 +1s as my choice of weak transponder as this allows me everything except the c4 (10714H)transponder and the bbc news transponder(10773H) all other transponders fine. The rain outage was expected as I have a much smaller dish than you and a cheapie receiver but am unwilling to spend until the new satellites come into place. Also I align to IN here, the sky news transponder at 28.2 2B south (not 28.5) is so close it would not make a difference

That's not true. 12207 is on Astra 2, owned by SES Astra, and stationed at 28.2E, same as 1N. The slot at 28.5E is owned by Eutelsat and the current satellite is EB1 (Eutelsat 28A).

All depends what meter you have. On mine you just put the marker over the transponder and that's what you are measuring.
