I am very confused by the reports in CZ/SK. I hear people in Prague with 2.1m dishes and Sky receivers getting 75%q, yet other people getting nothing with 2m/2.4m dishes.

Do you know what kind of dish Peon has?

Does anybody get anything from 27.5 west, Intelsat 907? Ive tried here in southern Poland but my receivers don't like the high symbol rate! Just wondering if this could be a viable option?

Reports are coming in everywhere but when is it gonna be safe to consider these reports reliable? What about this phase 3?

From another website:
Having spoken to several Satellite installation companies and specialist equipment providers in the marine satellite sector in the UK - I have been advised not to invest in bigger/better equipment just yet.
Apparently what we are seeing now is phase 2 of a 3 phase project - once the 3rd new/upgraded satellite is launched - around april and with testing etc - a switch over date expected to be around sept/oct - even with larger dishes we will struggle to receive the free to air channels......Ive been told to sit tight and wait.

This just lets me think we're chasing the unreachable here.. Who's ready to invest in new equipment only to discover a few months down the line it's not enough?

I came across this post by chance - sounds interesting to most I think, so could we have this in the astra 2e general discussion.

What is being referred to is Astra 2G.

It will not further affect BBC, ITV etc. as they will stay on 2E Spot.

Whether it affects loads of Shopping, Religious, Slapper etc. Channels remains to be seen, but does anyone actually watch them?

When the time comes, we will of course set up a number of structured Topics to cover any issues relating to it, but for now there's little to say that wouldn't be wholly speculative.

If, however, you really want to discuss it, then please start a separate Topic rather than using a 2E specific one. We've already split off a couple of other discussions that were distracting from today's business!

Ok, my misunderstanding. From the post I took it to mean that it was (general?) knowledge that current channels on the UK spot beams (2e and 2f) would all transfer to 2g, which would have a tighter UK spot beam ?, and therefore impact further on fringe reception.

For "general knowledge", substitute "speculation" !

As stated, if you want a longer debate, please start a separate Topic :)

Yes what will go to 2G still is speculation, just to complete the info about it before going off topic, what's sure is that 2G will also have back-up facilities if any of 2E and 2F fail.

Why are you still showing Cyprus with a Magenta flag? Reception of 2E not possible anywhere on the Island with a 4.2m dish,
never mind >2.5m.

Hello Luxlizard! I am in Reggio Emilia and just found this website while trawling the net for information after the BBC (and now ITV) blackout... I have lost all BBC /ITV - basically all that I have got is Sky News, Pick and some stuff I never considered before, like shopping or second rate movie channels. DESPERATION!

Unfortuneately I have no idea how wide my dish is, it's been up there a long time! I just got the LNB sorted and a new freesat receiver early last year to get British TV so your post gives me hope that getting a bigger dish might be enough to restore the signal (if you are receiving through your freesat setup).

Please keep us posted! Thanks in advance!!
