Are you sure about BBC one HD being on 2f, according to kingofsat both BBC one and two HD are on the same transponder on 2e. Some of the ITV HD regions show on 2f
Depends on which region of BBC 1 HD, Scotland and Wales are on 2F, England and NI are on 2E.

I think most likely thing is they go back to a transponder at a slightly different time of day and this makes them believe something has changed, when in fact they are just seeing normal daily trend.

I am almost sure that I saw an increase of signal here, as I mentioned I did not had 24x7 BBC HD and now I have 24x7 BBCHD, now, I have though on any possible explanation and check my gear, and logic tells me that cannot be otherwise.

Anyway, if the signal is stable now this topic is unimportant

With all the talk of realigning I was wondering just how much difference there could be in a setting for a dish between 2F and 2E or even 1N (as was) and 2E.

As far as I can see the positions are so close together and with the distances invoved from the earth to the sats, any diffeence can only be the slightest fraction of a degree - and can one really adjust that finely?

Here just to the sounth of Valencia I have noticed only the very slightest drop in SS for 2E - and an advantage for me is that I have been able to take the attenuator off my Humax Foxsat as it no longer overloads on the strongest transponders! For most transponders I am getting 100% SS and 100% SQ and haave not realigned or adjusted the dish in any way since 2D days - the only change being to replace a faulty LNB at one stage which was done by one of our contributors.

Sorry, I only had kingofsat to go by, and they still show BBC1 HD Scotland and Wales on 2E on 11024H, perhaps I need to use another listing sight as I can´t see which sat they are from with the basic tools I have

No such thing as BBC1 HD England. Only Scotland, Wales and NI. The fourth is BBC1 HD, non-regional.

On a 2.4 dish it is about 3mm at the rim. As for is it worth it, I picked up almost 1dB SNR on some transponders. Don't forget as you go east you are moving away from Badr5 interference, so you are going to make a gain that is a lot more than just a 0.15º mismatch would normally be.

A strange thing happened here... A few minutes ago, around 22:40, in obidos/caldas area, my receiver showed for a few seconds 14 to 16% signal with a 1.8m PF. It's been consistently at 0% since the change to 2E and around here everybody says we are in a null area. What can this be? Interference from another satellite?

I forgot to say it was in bbc one and bbc three sd. 10773H 22000 5/6 and only lasted half a minute or so and reached a maximum of 16%. The receiver stars showing pictures with 19-20%.

I'm trying to catch it again with no luck.

Very interesting. I am much to the north from you, but I did notice an SNR increase as of 21.30 GMT. I have been noticing the cycle of signal variation from 2E is different from 2F. I think that (in West Iberia at least) SNR from 2E peaks around 22.00 GMT. Give it a try tomorrow at same time.
The best transponders for me seem to be is 10891H and 10773H. What is your LNB?

I'm not sure Obidos is in a null, not a deep null at least. I would guess you're on the fast drop-off zone. And if so, the slightest satellite wobble could be noticed by you.

Peak SNR here is around midnight.

OK, I should have said "the BBC 1 HD that is used in England" :p

I've switched my data collection to a 1.1m dish now. Let's see how it holds up 24/7. Graph is average of all spot beam transponders, including 8PSK.

Thanks Huevos - interesting - are you able to say what the critical level is for decent reception in db on our chart. Is it pretty much touch and go as it is on a 1.1m or is that a pretty good signal? I have no idea!!!

Yesterday no signal showed up around that same hour. I'll try again today but there's a little rain dropping so condition are far from ideal.

I have an Invacom twin 0.3db with feed (generic I think).

Absolute bottom limit before picture collapse is 6.7dB for QPSK 5/6, and 7.3dB for 8PSK 2/3.

1.1m dish. All transponders remain locked 24 hours.

That's an impressive drop off in the early hours! Is the time period regular or does it vary? Any idea if time related or due to sat issues?
Completely regular on both satellites. Here's a graph of the average over 7 days. Compare with the highs and lows of the last 24 hours. Although they are from different dishes (1.1m v 1.8m) the fingerprint is almost identical. Last 24 hour graph includes 8PSK transponders.
