Well I said it, isn't that enough? :)
Else, read this pdf from fcc.gov (footnote 3) _http://licensing.fcc.gov/myibfs/download.do?attachment_key=964546

Good work there spotting that! Looks like LEOP testing will be carried out by Intelsat in Maryland at one of their Teleports, also mentions six days in total needed. Is this part of the testing carried out by Astrium prior to handover or by SES (following handover) I wonder?

I think so. When you google a little more on the fcc site you'll see Astrium mentioned in the LEOP procedure of Astra 2F.
Also found this interesting piece by Astrium about LEOP, IOD and IOT: _http://www.astrium.eads.net/en/news2/getting-the-satellites-to-fly-.html

Interesting thread, don't understand everything, and still unsure how my signal in bulgaria (with 1.5m dish ) will be affected.

At the moment get about 80% of channels on 2ab , and have sky subscription

I read somewhere that sky might not use uk beam, so as to keep subscriptions from europe

As you don't currently get 1N spot beam then the 2F spot beam is unlikely to be received either.

What dish size do you think I might need, currently at 65% on most channels on current satellite with 1.5m

I think Sky will use the pan European beam for obvious reasons. This will open up the channels currently on the 2A/B North beams to the Spanish costas and the Canaries including seven day EPG, series links and On Demand.

Unknown at the moment. Signal strengths will become known over the next 3 - 6 weeks. Possibly the 2F spot beam will not be receivable by you at all in Bulgaria - we will have to wait and see.

Heswall is about 1.5 miles away ;)

Is it likely i will lose my 2a/b within three to six weeks, on all channels?

How would I know if the signal is being received from 2ab or 1n

I am getting ITV2HD/ITV3HD/ITV4HD, but no bbc

Most sky channels, some of which are duplicated, on my konig.

I think it may depend on which side of Bulgaria you live on since this satellite is more biased towards the west but no one will know for sure until the satellite is switched on.

Plus in the past SES have been a little conservative with their reception maps so I'm hoping this is still the case or it could be tears in Helsinki as it's well outside the 1.2m footprint. Nail-biting stuff... (Luckily we still have Eutelsat for now)

They are on 2A North. It is rumoured the 2A channels will move to 2F before the 2B ones do.

I just looked at the projected footprints of the new satellites

The 1.2m footprint appears to be about 200 kilometers from where I am on the black coast with my 1.5m dish

Not sure what size dish that might indicate might be required?
