I'm glad to hear some common-sense and caution being brought to bear - sadly, the fool who was on the other day will have done a lot of damage. Many punters won't see his ignorance for what it is and will have believed him (well, the bits that were coherent, anyway!).

On the plus side I always thought I was a novice, now I realise I may be over qualified as a talk radio europe expert ^-J

8901 signal 85% quality 10% to 40% picture stable Five bouquet 85% quality 70% seems that we are in a hotspot so at the moment 2.4 dish redundant
yup it does seem our 2.4s may be a little redundant at the moment - but i´m not going to remove mine for a while. I will wait until 2G is up and everything has settled down before even considering changing - and in another 14 years or so may be glad I kept the big "paella dish" when 2H 2I and 2J go up with their even tighter spot beams!!! :)

I've recorded the first part of the interview, file attached...Much better information than the guy two days ago for sure.

You can go to the website and listen to the rest of course.

Here is the whole hour from the station

My Satellite Setup
Gibertini 0p150 with single Inverto Black Ultra plugged into Humax FOXSAT HDR | Portable 80 cm dish with IBU plugged into TechniSat SkyStar USB HD DVB-S2 receiver/W7 64 Media Center / ProgDVB setup.
My Location
20 km south of San Sebastian N Spain
I live near San Sebastian in Northern Spain. I have an 80 cm dish with an unbranded LNB. Last night I noticed that on my FOXSAT HDR Channel 5 had disappeared so I investigated and came across this forum. On the FOXSAT there is absolutely no signal registered for the Astra 2F frequencies. However, if I plug into a Tevi USB receiver which is connected to a PC, on the Prog Finder program I see a 72% signal strength with 30% quality on both Transponder 57 10.964 Horizontal and Transponder 68 11.126 Vertical (the latter is a more or less stable, the horizontal one drops the signal constantly), I'm thinking that with a larger dish (120 cm) and a decent LNB like a plus utra I might get enough of a signal to watch these channels.(not that I ever watch Five).

Just listened to the first shorter file you kindly put up: Yes, pretty decent presentation, nice calming manner and pretty much factually correct.

My only minor quibble is the "breaking News" bit about the BBC deciding to delay until next year: That was always the plan - all they've done is to clarify it. Doesn't affect the price of queso, though.

It was nice to hear an ethical installer essentially saying "We have a product if things go wrong but there is no need to go out and buy it right now , dont panic , dont do anything " .

A report in Portugeuse to me, 20km South of Porto 110cm . All frequencies watchable / lockable 24 hrs Except 11023h which is not watchable, not a lot of weather margin.

Hi Nagusia,

As you may have seen from my previous posting I'm also in the San Sebastian area and completely lucked out with the 80cm dish. So, if you do change to a larger dish can you be so kind as to post what (minimum?) works for you. I REALLY do not want to go back to watching Spanish/Basque TV more than I have to, ie once a month, once the BBC changes sat. Ta.

Just listened to the full Talk Radio Europe broadcast and it would appear that those two guys aren't following this forum!! During the subsequent phone-in, a listener in Majorca rang in regarding the footprints of 2F and 2E. The "experts" replied that the published footprints for both 2F and 2E show that anywhere north of Alicante wouldn't be affected. No mention at all about the "notch" in the footprint that's affecting Cataluna and the Balearics!!!

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that whatever is causing the notch on 2F's transmission, e.g. slight antenna defect or satellite structural obscuration, won't be present on the 2E satellite. I don't cherrish the thought of mounting a 2+ meter dish on the roof of my 2-story appartment block. They don't call Menorca the "Windy Island" for nothing!!

That is one channel, not enough for the countries. Let's wait and see. Here they have already started selling receivers with BISS keys preloaded and 27W channels in the channel list (just in case).
That'll be the BISS Keys which changed yesterday then?? :-rofl2
