will increasing the dish size make it possible to get itv1 back again or not.

There's a report in the Eastern Europe thread that it is just possible on a 1.2m dish, so you should be ok on a 1.5m and a 1.8m will give you a bit of weather margin, but you will still be miles below signal level on a minidish located in the UK.

And before you spend 100's of €€'s remember everything changes again next year when the first of the new Astra 2's (2F) comes into service. Its anyones guess what reception will be like then.

And things change again when 2E arrives, and yet again when 2G arrives!

We started getting, "there is a technical fault" when trying to get ITV last week. I had it labeled as 7450, why, I have no clue it must have been what came up and I still had ITV TTS stored from when we first moved to Malta so I selected that to avoid a massive mummy meltdown and fortunately it works perfectly in St Julian's along with e4 e4 +1 channel 4 etc

there is tv 5 now on 10.964 h sr 22,000 and 5/6 all the tv 5 fiver etc is there.
itv now is on 11,053 h 22,000 and 5/6 as well.
it is in the clear you can load it into the add channels area.
malta is not far from naples italy so a 1.20 dish should work

Believe me.. you won't get ITV Toonarmy.... up until 3 days ago you could but now all gone

Vanton, I also live in Xemxija and with a 1.5m dish. Watching ITV1 at the moment on 12402V 2/3 27500 and can get ITV2HD, ITV3HD and ITV4HD on 11758H 3/4 29500.
Channel 4 and 4+1 are also ok on 12480V 2/3 27500. And Channel 4HD ok on 11126V 2/3 22000.
5HD ok on 12265H 3/4 29500.
Rest of the 5's are ok and free on 10964 H 5/6 22000.

All these should probably be ok with a 1.2m but some will be just about and may pixellate at times. A 1.5m is a better bet at the moment.;)

ITV TTS on 12402V will probably be moving in the new year to Astra 1N.

Anyone know what size dish I need for BBC One on Astra (Sky) in Malta, just moved from UK and want to get it sorted. Been using an online service a friend in Cyprus told me about Anglo VPN _http://www.anglovpn.com been watching all the UK freeview channels on there, pretty good quality.
Ideally want sky+ tho if the dish isnt too massive

iflove you can't get BBC in Malta but you can get almost all the others, through SKY. I can't get itv2 but some can.

Best bet for BBC is a box from the UK or just via the internet.

Hi iflove, you would need quite a large dish for BBBC etc but watch it on the internet, it's better, use Expat Shield (it's free) for your uk ip address. Welcome to a pretty miserable Malta, don't worry the weather will get better.

okay anyone want to tell me how on earth I am getting BBC1, 2 and ITV 2 AND plus 1. Is this a fluke?

How long have you had them? Astra 2D was turned off a couple of weeks ago and all traffic moved to 1N.

We suspect 2D had technical problems as there were a lot of transmission problems on shows reported the night before the switch off.

i can not beleave it.most everyone that follows the forum knows that all bbc, itv, ch 4 ,ch5 ,5 usa ,disney can now be picked up in malta and naples with a 1.25 meter dish.
they switched from 2 d to 1 n about a month ago.
it is not a mistake. and now cypress can not pick up bbc or itv anymore even with a 4 meter dish.
we get the signal that they had and they have nothing.

I have a 1.6m dish and a edision pingulux receiver in Mellieha and we get most of the itv1 variations and the plus ones too....we also get ch5 e4 itv1 2 3 and 4hd.....but cannot seem to get bbc1 or 2.......altho we did get it momentarily the other night but it was breaking up badly------then saying that a friend of mine in birkirkara with my box on his 1.2m dish and nothing special was getting the lot......puzzled

to be honest i dont know the make but it looks to be of very high quality of build.......typically we dont watch a lot of BBC (altho eastenders would be handy and keep err indoors happy) altho we have today tried skewing the nb a little and we now seem to get RTE one with a little break up and eastenders is shown there LIVE...
