I think you change the language setting in the installer menu and that changes the audio

It is not in the installer menu. On a non HD box press SERVICES 4 3 to change the language. If you change it to an obscure one it will leave EuroNews in English.

I have a Thomson HD box and added 11954 H frequency and stored the 6711 channel but when I go to channels I can't find it...
Am I doing something wrong?

It'll be in the Other Channels section, assuming its still visible to Sky boxes.

I went to other channels yesterday for the Moto GP. No sound. I have had audio until then on my HD box, and sound was available on 6712 which was something other than sport yesterday, today, this has also gone. I have tried changing the language, tried Spanish first, then French, still nothing. Please, does anyone know of a new fix?

With regard the Moto GP, I wish now that I hadn't seen it, on Spanish, Marco Simoncelli was one of my heroes. RIP Marco. Godspeed.

I think I used Urdu when I did it for a client.

Thanks Huevos, tried that and nothing. Audio has worked on HD boxes until now without the need to change language. All of a sudden it's gone, presumably there must be a fix for there would be little point in broadcasting at all surely?
Don't know where you are situated, normally BluePlatinum posts from GC which is a sister isle but it looks as though he may be on holiday or otherwise indisposed. Looks as though it's going to be La Sexta this weekend, problem is though, they don't show practice and only sometimes qualifying.

Thanks Thor, Have PM'd you. Saw the PM before this post. That sequence looks as though it's for a SD box, mine is HD. Changing the language on that is Services>System setup>Subtitles>Preferred language>Welsh. Unfortunately, still the same result, although there is audio on some banal music programme called HH Singalong.

No, it's correct Thor. It's a favourite language tab within the sub-titles menu option. Badly placed though I agree, it can certainly cause confusion. The SD box is far more obviously referring to the preferred language setting. I know that the language on the broadcast changes because I have put that to the test. When tab is set to English, Euronews is in English, French>French, German>German and so on. Thanks anyway.

I remember this specifically:
HD boxes work with no special audio config.
Legacy definition Sky boxes: you need to change the audio language to something other than English. If you don't want to screw up EuroNews then choose a language they don't use such as Urdu. Subtitle language has nothing to do with this.

Hi BP, the "Favourite Language" tab in the sub-titles sub menu is the only place to change the language on an Amstrad DRX890. This has nothing to do with the sub-titles being on or off, nor the requisite language. Pressing Sevices>Options>Subtitles, (which should IMO read Subtitles and Language), gives a screen with the following alternatives:
Subtitles With an option to turn on or off.
Audio Description With an option to turn on or off.
Favourite Language With various alternative audio language selections. (Which do change the language)
Highlighted Programmes With an option for Audio Des or off.
Beep On Audio Description With an option to turn on or off.
There is no other way on the DRX890 to change the language other than this, which it does. Were we allowed to post pictures I would show you exactly what this menu shows. Nevertheless, it can be seen on page 61 of the manual. I have looked in the installers menu, Services>0>0>1>Select where the supposed secret menu is and whilst there are some further alternative sub-menus where further modifications can be made, there is nothing relating to language at all.
I found something about it on a Sky forum, it appears that this idiosyncrasy is DRX890 specific.
Thanks to everyone for the assistance afforded to date.

Where did you get that bit of misinformation from?

All we ask is that anyone with a picture to display uploads it to our own servers rather than putting a link to another site. This means that if the outside site goes down or the original photo is deleted it's still here and viewable rather than giving a nasty red X.

Sorry, I've obviously misinterpreted what I have seen written previously.
