Hello

I have a strange problem with my Technomate 1000D.

My system
Technomate 1000D with Darkman patch
80cm dish
0.3 LNB Humax (and cheap 0.6)
Disequ Motor
lots of cable

I can't seem to get channels around 12300 frequency on any satellites.
Tried changing LNB, didn't help
Changed cable, didn't help
Changed way cable came into house, didn't help
Done factory rest, didn't help
Changed length of short cable from motor to LNB, didn't help

I have had a similar problem before. When wires from 2 different satellite dishes are fed in house next to each other, i.e wired for my sky box and wire for my Technomate, i could not get certain frequencies when both boxes were plugged in.

I can get all frequencies fine when motor is not connected, i.e from LNB to Technomate.

I also have a Skystar 2 and that seems to not like certain frequencies, if plugged into lnb out from technomate or from motor.

Any ideas?

It seems to be a problem with the signal that goes through the motor, anyone else had problems with the signal when connected to a motor?

No never heard of it before only heard of a particular frequency being blocked by a DECT phone. What grade?type of cable are you using??

I see.

The short cable is CT100 but the rest is cheap coax tv cable. I have also tried some cheap satellite cable from B&Q. Do you think its acable thing then? Even though i get all freqs without motor? Do i need good cable to use motor succesfully?

If your signal is being attenuated by a run of poor quality cable, then inserting a motor in line with an additional loss, may well just push the signal at high Intermediate Frequencies below the receiver's threshold.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

You apear to have proven its a loss through the motor. Ive found the same with a dual LNB set up on a DiSEqC motor, the single wire has about 7-8dB greater S/N at all frequencies, but about 12dB more at 1700 MHz IF.

You should also find similar losses at a frequency of 11450 MHz on some satellites, proving the IF feed is notchy.

Just a idea:
On my 2 receivers (Digiality and Triax) I have the option to boost the voltage to the lnb. +1volt I think.
Maybe this would give more amplification from the lnb?

Er, no. THe only difference it might make is to keep more frost off the LNB.

Thanks for all your advice, been testing further.

I just moved my dish to 28.2 east and plugged in my old sky digi box.
The digibox seems to get the channels around 12300 fine and the motor is still connected (i know the sky box will not move the motor)
So surely it cannot be the motor at fault, can it? Maybe my technomate box is faulty when a motor is connected too it.

The digibox may have a more sensitive tuner (unlikely ), or the overall power of 28.2 breaks through the noise level.

Have you tried the Technomate on this satellite slot ?

What do you mean by 'breaks through the noise level'

And yes i have tried the technomate at 28.2 east and still no signal around 12300.

I'm getting a bit annoyed with it now, don't know what else to try.
