... and two rose joints. The rose joints will bolt onto similar 'rails' on the Jumbo motor ...

CJ,

Would you please be able to tell me the supplier details for the rose joints and what size inner thread are they?

Thx

Yes, getting there. Some of neighbours are wondering whether my tiny 90cm Fibo is the dish I wanted to put up.... er... no... double the size of that and you're talking. Let's hope they don't start moaning - not that they can, since it was all in the planning document.

Received my 'angle iron' today, which wasn't actually what I ordered. Instead of 40 x 40 x 3mm, I received some 40 x 40 x 0.5mm! Needless to say, half a mm thickness made it extremely flimsy - thankfully, I already received the refund from the eBay seller.

Have received the rest of the bits for conduit and passed the cable into the house. Still a bit more to do by the dish itself - maybe 20 mins more work until the cabling is complete.

Also, I stuck an inclinometer on the pole and found it around half a degree out from being truly vertical. However, when I stuck the inclinometer on the other side of the pole, it was reading true. It looks like any tiny imperfections on the surface of the pole (even a grain of sand) will offset the reading, so it's difficult to judge. I know it's only half a degree but that's a lot when talking about a large dish with narrow beam-width.

Yes, having (As you know) erected an 80cm in place of the existing 1m, even I was surprised at the vast reduction in visual impact.

So, going the other way might well induce some sharp intakes of breath, Planning documents or not!

OK, finished the conduit-ing today, so that part is done. Had to lift up part of the paving and hammer/chisel a small trench for the plastic conduit.

And into the house. Conduits carry other cables around the house - Cat6 mainly.

The dish end.

Done for today - have to work and my wife yesterday moaned that I spend all my time working or fiddling with the dish... So, I bought a Raspberry Pi 3 to keep me occupied!

Good work, CJ.

And here's me thinking repairing our Bird Table this morning was a major achievement.

Yeah, well, I have to put up new blinds up today as well, else the wife will, once again, have a go at me. The term SWMBO rings very true.

Looking good. I'm about to go out and hack away at the bushes in the flower bed to make room for the 1.2m.

Did some fabrication of the the motor side of things. All the bits are essentially ready, just need to put them all together. Missing some M12 nuts, though, so won't be totally finished until I get those. But I could start putting the dish up this weekend :D Except the wife wants to go furniture shopping and spend some "quality time" together...

Easy. Buy her a set of Spanners while you're out shopping, to show how much you care, then get her to help you with this vital domestic project when you get back home.

Not something I would recommend, I can envisage the next photo being the remains of a motor after someone has put one of those spanners in the works!

SWMBO works a five day week, I work a 4 day, so at least I get a day to play without being nagged, or 'I want to go to IKEA or a garden centre today, you spend too much time playing with that thing'

If it ain't the dish she's talking about, she could always help out....
