After my post half an hour ago, I saw the tiny moon crescent, now I see it was less than 23 hours old, no wonder it was so hard to find!
The sky had cleared just in time, I went to the open countryside and temperature had dropped already to -4.
Anyway I didn't see the comet with the naked eye. Other observers in NL needed binoculars or camera to see it.

Not long after I posted, it clouded over. Now the skys are clearish, but not to the west, and I can't see any moon out there.

Looking good tonight,it would be nice to know exactly where it is in relation to the moon tonight. Getting the scope out for a look and maybe a photo if its worth it.

Looks like it should have been directly above the moon somewhat. as you say it must be faint-the omens dont look good for the next few days. In theory it should only get fainter i think.....

It may be a bit easier to see as it moves into darker skies.

On the maps its going to be in the region of the moon for the next 5 days or so, so if the moon has set almost certainly the comet will have, or be close the horizon anyway.

Beautiful clear night in the north west with a thin crescent of a moon. Couldn't see a comet though.

Some weather amateurs in NL saw the comet, but nobody with the naked eye.
