Back on topic, I forgot to mention received power levels: BBC 1 Scotland 77% Quality (One of the strongest transponders on 28e) & 57% Quality on the music channel Lava (One of the weakest transponders on either of the two co located birds) these are the levels on my Technomate 6800HD+ where below the 40% you get stutter & then break up. The one time I lost signal was on the 22nd September when we had some freak HEAVY rain & thunder & lightning (It was like looking through a power shower) on this ocassion even Hotbird was a total wash out on all transponders during this downpour.

I've got an 80cm dish in Brussels with prime focus on 13e as well. And the 28e is coming in the strongest and is the last one to go if the weather is really really terrible.

It all depends what dish you have where you live and what birds you want to shoot. I have a 120cm dish and build me own brackets and can receive all common birds without problems. But I spend a lot of time on it as it’s my hobby :)

Found this thread through a search; I've got a new 80cm dish and I've attached a universal style multi-bracket to it (in itself a bit of a faff seeing as Faval doesn't comply with 'universal' it seems and I had to drill my own hole in the plastic attachment to bolt the aforementioned bracket onto the dish...).

I've got the dish aligned at 7°E, with 13°E and 19.2°E offset on one side - these are working fine. I'm now attempting to put another LNB on the other side, aligned at either 1°W (for the strongest stuff, but hence the alignment to 7°E to give it just a little more of a chance), or 5°W. Having looked at this, is it likely then that 5°W won't work as the LNB will be too high? I had a brief go earlier but couldn't seem to get any lock whatsoever, although it was very bright and I couldn't see the TV screen through the window particularly well and gave up quickly.

Not tried 1°W yet but my (sketchy) understanding of it is that because I'm at around 2°W in my current location, that's the 'peak' of my arc so to speak, and therefore that's why 5°W would be too high, but 1°W should be OK?

And am I likely to get 1°W at all anyway? I've heard differing reports. I'm after the NRK and SVT transponders and the UPC ones. These seem to be some of the strongest ones when I'm aligned on 1°W luckily.

Cripes, that was months ago!

Did a whole separate Thread on it - Got the job done by leaving the Monoblock exactly where it was and clamping the generic bracket onto the Monoblock body, then found 5W in a jiffy.

Retained existing custom switching system so as not to confuse herself. Or me.

Still works fine despite rain, snow, hail, wind, surfeit of frogs etc.
