Hey decided to make this mount
sdsdfs.PNG
I can easily locate steel work, will use oilite bushes for moving parts Google , need to locate gearbox with anti backlash something like this need to do more research chain and sprocket will use from motor cycle
Two-Way Right Angle Gear Drives | 2-Way Right Angle Gearbox

trying to get a rough idea on size of slewing ring part with chain do you think actuator is 18 inch in picture above

I do not think this is very easy to make such a mount. Will be interesting to follow this thread. Good luck with the project.

a short off topic but related to your project This mount remind me this one I have seen last year while I was visiting a friend in italy..

This si an "Eisat" mount and positioner, very precise, still available on the Italian market but very expensive.
I ve never seen someone else (Dxers) with that stuff, am I wrong ?

don't see any major problems hardest part will be locating correct gearbox, only tool I don't have is ring roller might buy one if not will take steel to fabrication shop for bending
Gear Driven Ring Roller to make metal rings and wheels! Worldwide Shipping!

Looks very similar to the old Fibo H to H motor, but way more substantial, they were a complete headache...

the beauty of making your own I can gear it via gearbox chain and sprocket and make it very accurate might take 4/5 minuets to do the full arc but I want accuracy I will use anti backlash gearbox and good quality actuator motor for build

after a bit of driving around calling at various companies came across a very helpful chap :) need to do some milling/fabrication but now have most parts, little did I know I can get proper clamps to hold cog to shaft will call back to company when I get nearer completion

need to pick more steel up and new cutting blade then can make start on frame

made rough calculation on gearbox ratio of 70/80/1 bought 80/1 just received email from NSC they use 60/1 on new models, Travel Time of 4 Min. 37 Sec. to Cover the 160° Arc, unsure what cog is used never asked but shouldn't be far away slower it goes more accuracy, maybe 6 min 160° can use bigger cog to speed up a little if not happy
Horizon to Horizon Polar Mount Series

chap gave me ruined motor for input shaft, stripped it down nearly perfect fit for actuator adaptor little drilling needed hopefully pick parts up to join motor to gearbox tomorrow

 interesting thanks for the info :)

I doubt the claim of 'the best satellite motor in the world' will last, now the experts here are on the case.

Search for Rosta tensioner , they have chainwheels with rollerbearing inside .
You will need 2 of them .
