Hi,
Just installed a new satellite dish to pick up Freesat but I am only getting limited channels. When I look at the satellite signal on the TV all the Vertical channels show good strength and quality whereas the Horizontal channels are weak or zero. Is this a problem with the LNB or something else? Thanks for any help.

Strong signals are available at your location for UK beam @ 28.2°E/28.5°E both Horizontal & Vertical.
Maybe your set up requires some adjustment for stronger signals,

The Lnb is a good place to start you may need to rotate it slightly to the left or right.

It might be that you've skewed the LNB too far, try rotating it back towards 0 a bit.
As william-1 states the problem could be with the transponders, can you please post channel dtails, transponder details, and signal quality, of the channels you're managing to receive.

My guess is the LNB is a Sky Q type 'wideband' LNB - each cable only carries one polarisation. If the dish is a Sky Minidish (oval rather than round) they are often sold with a Sky Q LNB which is not fully compatible with the satellite tuner used in televisions. A photo of the dish & LNB and a list of channels which are working will help determine if this is correct - the solution would be to change the LNB to a Sky mk4 quad LNB.

That model comes with it's own weathershield, according to the advert, a double rubber boot, designed to fit over the cables, then slide over the F connectors, and into the LNB.
Have you tried the other LNB output?
Did you fit the dish yourself?
What make/model receiver are you using?

What channels are you actually receiving on these transponders?

Also, you can try plugging the satellite cable into the other LNB output, in case that one is faulty. (What is that foamy stuff around the cable?)

The dish was self installed and the receiver is built in to a newish Toshiba TV. Have tried both LNB outputs. The foamy stuff around the cable is plumber's mate which I used to provide weather sealing as it is a non setting putty. Dish size 60cm high by 50cm wide. Some of the channels received are BBC 1 HD BBC 2 HD CBeebies ETV4 CBBC HD Channel 4 HD Channel 5 HD ITV1 HD Channel 4 Film 4 More 4+1 E4

It might be your television, that might not be sending the signal, to switch between 13v and 18v, to change the polarity.
Can you please post the model, of your television, so that we can find the online manual.
What is the quality of the cable, you've used. and the length?
Do you have a satellite receiver, or can you borrow one?

I would redo the f connectors and if you haven't got the rubber protection , cover with some silicone grease and wrap some self amalgamation tape around

Good quality cable, and a short cable run.
Unfortunately Toshiba support doesn't seem so good, there is a link, to an online manual, but the link just brings up a blank page, and no way to download the manual, I've even turned off my Adblocker, and paused ghostery, but maybe they don't like Firefox.
As mentioned above, try remaking the connections:
F Connector.jpg

I just noticed this question, regarding your television?
Can we use satellite input on Toshiba TV?
Answer. No, there is no Freesat Service, on this product

Found the tuner information:
HEVC (H.265) Decoder Yes
Tuner Type HD DVB-T2/C/S2
UHD from Satellite Yes
Dual Tuner No
Electronic Program Guide (EPG) Yes
Auto Search Yes
Program Storage Capacity (Analog) 200
Program Storage Capacity (Digital S/S2) 10000
Program Storage Capacity (Digital T/T2/C) 800

I'll continue trying to get a look at an online manual.

Can you please post more information, regarding the rear of the television, and the imputs.
I think I've found a picture, of the back, of your model, but can't read the printed information:

Thanks, I found that manual, but I couldn't see anything to do with satellite setup, and the Toshicba website is useless, even the chat option requires your name, and telephone number.
I've checked your model, on their website, and under the TV Signals FAQ's, the 7th question, in TV Signals, Can we use Satellite input on Toshiba TV? and the answer is No, there's No Freesat Service on this product, which doesn't make sense, as you have a satellite input, for a F connector.
Try the Toshiba websites chat, as you will have the details, of your purchase, and explain that you can't get Horizontal channels, so it might not be switching between 13v and 18v.
It might just need a software upgrade.

Have you been able to check with a satellite receiver?

Toshiba are hopeless. They told me that the TV doesn't have a satellite receiver at all! I told them that it received channels but just not all of them.
It has the latest software.

It must be due to the satellite tuner not sending a signal, to switch from Vertical, to Horizontal, polarity. We could confirm this if you can get hold of a satellite receiver, if that receives all channels, from your dish, then the problem must lie with the television.
Is the connection, behind the panel, where the HDMI slots are, is for a roof aerial, or have Toshiba set up an F Connector that works with cable, and terrestrial signals, but not for satellite?Didn't they say anything when you told them that you have connected a satellite dish, to the television, and have all Vertical channels, just not Horizontal channels? They claim to be expert advisors, on their site.
