Used by the Russians to transmit programmes in UHFto remote corners of the USSR. They called them Molinya orbits.
Ohh yes, I did not remember the name.
Maybe french satellite Simphonie was the same? It was in the 70s, just before Telecom satellites launched in mid 80s.

Updated list for the TV channels and feeds I have checked for the World Cup.
The updated list below now includes the DSNG feed from 10.0 East on 11061H, SR7200.

1. DSNG feed from 10.0E (fastest)
2. A Sports on 38.0E (about 1.7 secs slower than DSNG)
3. M4 on 0.8W (about 2.3 secs slower than DSNG)
4. Globecast from 3.1E (about 4.7 secs slower than DSNG)
5. BBC on 28.2E (about 8.4 secs slower than DSNG)
6. ITV on 28.2E (about 8.6 secs slower than DSNG)
6. Test 1 from 19.2E 11627V, SR22000 (about 9.6 seconds slower than DSNG)

Normality has been restored, the DSNG feed from 10.0E is faster than any of the general satellite TV channels.

Hi @moonbase. The delay of 30 seconds i was talking about was tested against RTVS Sport of Skylink on 23.5e.
BTW the DSNG feed on 10e is (TyC sports aregentina feed) and test1 is a temporary re-broadcast of kan11 (YES! Package channel from Amos 4.0w).

@Criptex

I checked RTVS Sport from 23.5E against ITV from 28.2E which is in my list and found RTVS Sport to be only 3.1 seconds faster than ITV.

As ITV is about 4 seconds slower than Globecast from 3.1E I am puzzled at how you got RTVS Sport to be 30 seconds faster than Globecast?
Based on my test figures, I have RTVS Sport as around 0.8 seconds slower than Globecast.

I realise that conditions may vary from day to day but the channels I have benchmarked so far seem to be reasonably consistent in their relative picture speeds.
If I can get both Globecast and RTVS Sport side by side on TV's I will be able to accurately measure it. It might need some cable re-routing though?

Update:
I managed to get a side by side comparison between Globecast from 3.1E and RTVS Sport on 23.5E.
The Globecast pics were breaking up a little but were OK for the test. I found Globecast to be about 0.8 to 0.9 secs faster than RTVS Sport which is consistent with the RTVS Sport benchmark vs ITV from 28.2E.

You can also include in your list the feed for Southwest Asia / Australia on 166E, only DSNG 10E is faster.

Have you compared the 166E feed against any in the list to get a reference point on latency?
Unless it has been benchmarked against a known referential the latency is meaningless.

I compared yes, despite being a re-feed it is the fastest transmission except when playing Argentina (DSNG 10E) about 1s slower.

Interesting, how did you compare picture speeds from 10E and 166E that are 156 degrees apart?
I assume one of the pictures was from a stream?

The BBC news website was saying CCTV5 have been putting a 50 second delay on their transmissions to China so they can remove the shots of the crowd having a good time without masks in a post Covid world.

... for example EBU has a permanent satellite multiplex for its feeds all on ns4 and on specific satellites based on coverage. 10e,7e,3e for Europe and mena...

Would you please be able to provide the frequency and beam footprint details for the NS4 mux on 3.0E?

I cannot find anything on there so far that looks like NS3/NS4 based on some preliminary scans.
My Promax ran out of battery power before I could complete a low band V polarity scan so that part of the spectrum remains to be checked, to be resumed...
