I've just got a Dion (vstbaw09) stb without manual.

When I attempt to edit the vpid/apid in the "Edit Channel" menu I just get "Invalid Entry"

To view the aforementioned channels I need to create a "new channel". This works fine :)

Is this correct, and the only way to do it, or is it possible to edit an existing channel parameters?

Can anyone with a Dion confirm. Thanks.

That's the way I do it. Put it on the channel you want to alter then select new channel option then insert pids

hi Duwieparkin,

i eventually got a STB2AW09+ box and for some reason i do not have anything to do with add channels or pids, all i have is a very very basic setup menu with tune, factory reset and version.

the version info is:

H/W: 1.0
S/W: A33ST10_16_017D
Build 00

ive checked for software upgrade and found zilch :(
is your firmware the same as mine?

or is there a secret menu or something??
this is rather annoying lol

cheers,
Spin.

Nice one Spin, shame about the box, I had already guessed the pids for tview as my box was showing me the pcr number so I just. Put I the same number in the vid and bingo.
Was lookin on tesco direct mobile site the other day and I did see what appears to be my box. Listed as "Dion ECO 2 scart receiver Catalogue number: 206-2099" it's £20ish. Can't guarantee it will work, but as it's tesco if it don't tell them your not happy with the EPG or something and ask for your money back. Catalog's usually have a return within so many day's if your not happy for a refund don't they.

I've just done a full scan and cannot find TView. Does it have another name in the channel list?

Thats the exact box i bought but unfortunetly it had newer fw on it so it is useless as tesco patched the fw so you cant do it.

espn and uk gold are encrypted and require a smartcard as its under topuptv.
pids will not work for that.

You are correct - when the films are on, your PIDs are used. However, when I checked yesterday during the preview period, they were using my PIDs.

I guess the PIDs change depending upon the program content.

Cheers

Here are the respective logged PMTs. The PIDs need to be "AND 0x1FFF".

Before any MOD, who doesn't understands these numbers and deletes them, let me explain.
This is the Program Map Table which is freely sent by the broadcaster in the DVB stream. It contains the Packet Identifiers which enables the TV decoder to correctly identify the audio and visual streams (and others) to be used for a particular channel.
They are NOT secret "keys" !!!!

For those that are interested a little bit more info on the above.

The Preview PMT follows the normal DVB mpeg convention whereby
Stream Type 0x02 is the Video PID
and
Stream Type 0x04 is the Audio PID

The trick they are using when they go "encrypted" (not really encrypted just hidden) is that they use
Stream Type 0x06 (which is normally used for PES packets containing private data) for both the Video and Audio PIDs.
This confuses most STBs - unless you/they know how to read the PMT ;)

there is absolutly no need for your past posts at all whatsoever, i can see your using dvbviewer or something but tsviewer is perfectly adequate indeed.

Spinifex.

and may i just add that you were clearly looking at the on air pids rather than the private streams.
